EXCELLENT second plane. Could be a good first plane with the right instructor

What the GP Big Stik lacks in style, it more than makes up for in flying performance. Excellent aircraft.

WOw, you all sound like its a great plane. Thx for the advice.

I bought one today at the local hobby shop, already have it half assembled. I have a friend whos gonna help me learn to fly it.

Glad to hear it, Hybridcrx! The Great Planes Big Stik .60 is easy building and very well designed. It will provide you with a lot of fun for as many years as you choose to keep flying it.

They slow down and land like a trainer, but they're aerobatic enough that you can fly the entire Sportsman pattern routine with one. I've seen several of them with floats on them that were used for taking off and landing on the lake, too.

Stiks have an elegant simplicity to them that make them enjoyable to fly and own.

The original Ugly Stick was my trainer. Set it up with lower control throws and it is as good as any trainer. Some time after you solo increase your throws and start learning some basic aerobatics.

hi guys!

I recently bought the GP Big stik 60. I armed it with a GMS .70 and it flies awsome. I love the darn thing.

My question is, where I can find info on turning my stik into a tail dragger?

Thanks!

JT

Just search the forums for "Big Stik tail dragger" and a number of related threads should pop up.

Obviously, you will have to add a tail wheel.

My plans simply show two locations for the aluminum legs. All you have to do is reposition the gear forward of the CG. I can check the precise location if you need me to. You may also have to add some ply bracing inside fuse to support the gear. IF yours is the ARF version, it may already be beefed up. I'm not familiar with them.

Here are the options GP showed on their kit. For a tail dragger, the distance from the front of the firewall to the front edge of the landing gear was 7 3/32.

I have a Big Stick 60, and put a OS 91 4strokes and is a good second plane for me.
With a computer radio and dual rate for begin, it is realy good to fly.

Good lock

You are going to love this plane. This was my trainer. It can be tame and lands beautifully. You can grow into this plane and it will act as your aerobatic trainer once you progress to that stage. I love mine.
