Im going with the transplanted .46 AX...12.25x3.75 prop and Slimline pitts muffler. Should be ready in 1-2 weeks. Lets see what happens!

I started out my great planes corsair with the .46ax and later switched to a lx, man did that suck. Went back to the ax and played with the prop a little. Tried the 11x7 and it worked good. Went to a 12x5 and it was great. Those props were all master airscrew. About a month ago I changed again to an API prop in 13x5 and that is perfect for the corsair. Also have a .46 ax on a great planes dazzler, it worked well, but I wanted more 3d performance, ended up changing the engine to a .55 ax and running a 14x5 and added a few changes to the control serfaces and a lot of tail weight and now it will hover. When you want to get more extreme with the manuvers, you will need to change the center of gravity quite a bit... if you go to the******************.com, they have a forum also that had very friendly people and took quite a bit of time to explain all that to me. With the 14x5, I am getting 12.5k rpm out of the .55 with 15% nitro and it has tons of power. With the .46ax and the 13x5 I am getting 12.5k rpm which is also quite fast for that size of a prop. I did have to change the stock landing gear for prop clearance, but that was easy enough. The other modifications were enlarging the tailfeathers, sorry but I have'nt taken any pictures of the mods yet. Hope this helps save a little time & $ on your end.

I broke my 46AX in with an 11x5. The engine got moved to my Dolphin which is pretty similar to the pulse. Once it was fully broken in and making max power, I experimented and ended up with a 12x5, spinning 12,000rpm with 10% nitro.

You have to try different props. I don't fly strictly 3D - not really much at all, but do aerobatics all day long. I generally don't like really low pitched props, however the 46AX works best at high rpm (where the power is). I think I would hate a 3 or 4 inch pitch unless I just wanted to hang on the prop all day long.

11x5 to start, then an 11x6 or 12x5 once it's broken in, whichever you prefer. Mine took about 6 gallons of fuel to reach a point where it would spin the 12" prop with enough RPM. I tried it once and didn't like it, waited a few more gallons, and presto, the plane really came to life. Good vertical performance but also a good cruising speed.

I've burned 18 delicious gallons of fuel through my AX-46 with an APC 11x6...the original prop, too.

Best combo in my opinion...run it a couple of clicks on the rich side and it will last practically forever.

Yeah, do that and your 46 AX will last for a very long time, maybe even longer than this thread has!

IMO the prop you choose is based upon the airplane your engine is bolted up to. Meaning there is not just one correct prop!

I have a Tower Kaos with a .46AX on board that swings a 11X7 turning right at 10,500 static on the tach. It gives me the performance I want out of the airplane. A friend of mine has a Revolver which also has a .46AX for a power plant it swings a 12X6 around 10,500 as well, the airplane is quick. Bottomline select the prop for the application depending on the airplanes design and your desired performance.

I always try to not over stress my engines by over turning them. Whatever you get for RPM on the ground is going to be more in the air especially if you don't use throttle management.

After three years of using the OS46AX engine, I shall admit that this is one of the best engine i've ever used.
I burnt out the first one I bought due to my hard performance tests (but that was expected), then bought another one that I currently cherich and still use on my sig fourstar.

I've tried many propellers and I am quite convinced now that the best propeller for a sport airplane would be the 11x5 or 11x6 at sea level and "normal" weather conditions of humidity and temperature.
I am saying that because I lived in Dubai for a certain period of time in the past, and the engines suffered a lot in summer under 45deg C and high humidty levels, the propeller that worked the best at that time was the 10x6...

I am currently using the "Sonic" propeller from Graupner, these are lighter than classical APC propellers, but with virtually the same airfoil design.
It runs incredibly well, keeps the engine relaxed, and give lots of power and thrust as one would expect for this kind of airplanes.

deadeye what rpms are you getting on that 14x4, my ax55 turns a 13x4 at 12500-13000.
also people with a 12x6 or 11x7 try something a little smaller (12xx4, 11x5-6) and you will notice a big difference

yeah i have to agree with arctic cat rider stay on the rich side of that needle valve or else yourelookin at a siezed piston or bearing

Hi I just started using an OS46 AX on a Seaguall Boomering Trainer, Iam using an 11x6 prop, the difference in power Iam seeing, since before on another triner Iwas using an OS 46 LA, using an 11x6 isit good?

APC 11 x 6 or 7 is what i used with my FX. wonderful combination!

Am currently flying a HobbyKing Soar40 using a Master Airscrew 12x5 on my 45AX. It works well.

APC 12 1/4 - 3 3/4 great for all general purpose I love how efficient they are :)

Master A is no good compared to RAM ,Graupner G-Sonic or APC props!

I've found that my .46 engines (Tower and Super Tiger) seem to like 11X6 props best, either Master Airscrew or APC

I have a .46 and it seems to like the 11X6 best.

I use the following:
10x6 APC for sport flying
10x7 APC for a bit more speed
11x5 MA for best performance. I had a Tiger 2 that was landing a bit hot and switched to the 11x5 and it helped on landings. It also pulls it a bit better during vertical.

So for what I can see, most here will agree that 10x6 or 7 and 11x5 or 6 will probably work out for you.
