Not sure...
I have a JR-SX600, and on Mode 1... I have the settings for my PTS Mustang. If I wanted to use the same radio for my Hanger 9 Cub, do I switch it to Mode 2? Is that how we can have multiple aircraft for these newer radio's? Each mode for every aircraft?
I'm new to this technology, a year ago I was afraid of it all... now I love it. I just had that nagging question, because I can't get a hold of my club members right now and I'm currently assembling my Cub. Thanks, ;) Luftwaffe Oberst Aero Modelers Club AMA District II Pulaski, NY |
RE: Not sure...
Mode assignment is just a matter of which gimble and which of the two imputs on each gimble affect which of the basic four control functions. It has nothing to do with model strorage and limits of each function that we have selected for each particular model.
Flying on different modes is unadvisable beyond just making the changover, In North America the most common stick mode used is mode 11, Its not clear which mode are you flying? John |
RE: Not sure...
Do you mean "Mode One"? Or "Model One"? There is a huge difference between the two terms. As said above, Mode One refers to how the sticks are assigned on the actual control. Model One refers to which assigned model you are using in the radio.

Mode 1. Now how do I have multipule aircraft on one radio? I have my control throws etc all set up on my Mustang.
Now I want to use the same radio for my Cub with different control throws. I want to use both planes on the single radio, and not over ride the setting for one or the other. My booklet says I can store up to 3 models. [&:] I hope you know what I mean now. Or is it me that is lost? Model One refers to which assigned model you are using in the radio. RE: Not sure...
Checking the adds for the VG600 It does hold 10 model selections and of course it will hold things like expo (I think JR calls this soft center), endpoints and sub trims. Selecting the model is likely a model number from 1 to 10 or even spelled out alpha/numerics This will be covered in the manual under model select The most common term for doing this function.

RE: Not sure...
Thanks John. I'm starting to get it now. Guess I'm a little slow. [&:]

No you are not slow. There is a definate learning curve to using computer types and it gets to be a communication problem many times as some maufacturers choose different names for the same functions. It will get easier.
I'am guessing that is a Chief in your avitar, if so does perhaps it still have the old interior hand starter lever option? |
RE: Not sure...
Your radio has 3 model memory, and each model memory is saved with different settings. And ofcourse 3 models can be stored in your radio and you can fly all your 3 planes with one radio. You must assign model name on your radio as well, as I have 2 model memory radio its JR XF421EX, it came with Hangar 9's combo P51 Mustang PTS. Model one is for my simulator and model 2 is for my plane. In order to switch from model you have to turn on the power switch as well as 2 right buttons on the radio one is for scrolling other is for increasing decreasing simultaneously.
As you found in your manual as well, I hope it would help;) Mody |
RE: Not sure...
You got it! good eye's. I flew it twice... flys like a dream. I relate it to the Cub very much. The owner sold it for $10,000 fully restored. Only if my credit was good and I had a full time job at the time. [:@]
I'll figure out my radio, I'll let you all know when I do. I'll be back home from work Tuesday and I'll finish everything up. I write to you guys in between calls at AT&T. I work in Syracuse and have a apartment in the city, and one home in Pulaski. So I'm away from home 3 days a week. [:o] You're right armody, I'll have to rename every model so I don't confuse anything. ;) You've all been helpful, and I thank each and every one of you. :D Luftwaffe Oberst Aero Modelers Club AMA District II Pulaski, NY |
RE: Not sure...
With your control sticks in "Mode 1" the throttle is controlled by the right stick.
With your control sticks in "Mode 2" the throttle is controlled by the left stick. Which stick controls your throttle LuftwaffeOberst? |
RE: Not sure...
Left. ;)

Then you have a Mode 2 radio like most of us. Unlike what you stated in post #4. Just wanted us all to know.

RE: Not sure...
What probably got confused is the actual "alfa" (Alpha) representation the display uses to convey the "Model" # defaulted to on power up, and when you are ready to select / change it. As inexpensive as the components are today, it is a shame they couldn't use the full word to describe what it is you are trying to do with it. That's why you need a manual.
LuftwaffeOberst - you have a field available to the west of you just off the 90. Probably 15 - 20 min. from the city. It's on the north side of the highway, looks like a nice one. |

I have Mode 2 Ken, and yes the radio can store up to 10 from what I read last night in the manual.

But once I figure it all out, it won't be a problem. This is the first time for me trying to put more than one airplane on one radio. I used to have a radio for each plane... no more once I figure it all out. It's so cool that I don't have to make so much mechanical adjustments anymore, I can do most of it right from the radio. LuftwaffeOberst - you have a field available to the west of you just off the 90. Probably 15 - 20 min. from the city. It's on the north side of the highway, looks like a nice one. You mean in Syracuse? I wouldn't know. I have my planes in Pulaski with my wife, because that's where my club is. I'm home in Pulaski Monday nights to Friday mornings... and I have a single room I rent in Syracuse next to my job Fridays to Mondays. Believe it or not, renting a small room is cheaper than owning a car and driving 60 miles everyday. I've noticed more money in my wallet for my airplanes because of it. It's hard on my marrage, but hey... it pays for the grub, and I know truckers who leave there families weeks at a time. So it's not so bad when I think about it. Don't have any room for any planes in my tiny apartment in Syracuse. [:@] I kind of look at it like it is my reward for working hard and doing everything right, then coming home to my wife, cats and two airplanes that say... Flyyyy meeee... I know you want to. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] I've been super busy do to this new I-Phone. Seems like my higher ups didn't plan things ahead very well. I think we should have merged with the New AT&T way before the development of the I-phone. There is much disorder in the ranks... but that's another issue. I'm sorry, Writing this at work. :D In between calls of course. Luftwaffe Oberst Aero Modelers Club AMA District II Pulaski, NY |
