most flyers have some sort of flight stand for working on their planes at the flying site. here is a good one. garage sales or flea markets have these walkers often and i never pay more than 10.00 for one.WOW DON'T KNOW WHY THE PICS LOADED THIS WAY BUT CLIC ON EM AND YOU WILL GET SOME SUPER DETAIL![:-]

never would have thought of that....nice job!

Yep pretty good I,m sure a few of the older generation would love to give there walkers (zimbermans)(product name) up. I use one of those black and decker work mates PHOTO problem is you took photo in bitmap format instead of jpeg which is smaller format

As a senior citizen I would be as happy to use a walker for a field stand as I would be to put a coffin on top of my car to carry models! (G)

 LOL'
well you know you just gotta do what ever works for you. but these stands build in one night and cost less than $20.00, they fold with a push of a button they are completely fuel pruff and the plastic pipe cradles are not fixed so you can change em to suit any plane. a simple L shaped rig works nicely for profiles or SSC fighters or flying wings. and you have no idea how many "OLD FART" jokes they can inspire!! |

How are the vertical supports attached the top of the walker... I can't tell from the pic... great idea!

that's pretty cool. best part is if you break a hip trying to fish your plane out of a ditch or something, no worries, the walker is ready to go. I always thought it was cool seing old common items put to new uses.

:Dthe cradles are 1" schedul 40 pvc. a "T" is cut and bolted with a couple bolts with locking nuts to the walker . shimmng a little to fit the walker helps. the actual cradles are not glued into the "T" fittings so they are interchangeable. customizing to fit your planes is easy. the guys at my flying field picked up on this idea and some handy modification such as hangers for transmitters and the like have shown up.

RE: flight stand easy cheap and quick
Great... didnt see the bolts... I'm off to "good will" .. they always have a couple there!
As I look I may even add a piece of horizontal pvc into "T's" between the two uprights (below the "U" holding the plane) to take some stress off the pvc and bolts. Mike |
RE: flight stand easy cheap and quick
:D be sure to use schedule40 (heavy duty) pvc. that has been plenty strong for up to 60 size birds. be careful to keep it foldable[:)
and just what do you have against my cofin rooftop carier??? LOL i'm in the medical field soooo how about a plastic bedpan as a lifting body aircraft??[:@] |
