It would certainly help if you had told us what kind they were BUT most likely you will be fine. Heli radios usually don't have the ratchet on the throttle which MOST airplane pilots like but many also don't mind that. The 6 channel switch/pot legends may not make sense for planes but you can deal with that too.

These guys are not being harsh just truthfull. Right now getting the engine strait on a warbird should go on the back burner until you know more about offset thrust and such. ie... most airplane engines, especially taildraggers like the spifire, aren't suppose to be strait inline but require an offset to compensate for engine torque.
If you are dead set on the Spitfire you should find someone local to help you.

Yes, put it on a shelf and go purchase a trainer aircraft. A Spitfire is NOT a beginners airplane in ANY manner. Join a club and get proper instruction. Your new club mates will be able to actually look at your Spit and give good suggestions for when you are ready to fly it.

If you try to fly it too soon it won't last long.

I've got a Hobbico Electristar and it's a good second plane in my opinion because of cost and speed. It's not as slow & easy as you might think.
I taught myself with a SkyFly. You can get one for $99 at just about any hobby shop. Comes with everything. Charge & fly.
When you wreck it, it's easy to fix and parts are cheap if you really hurt it.
I also did a lot of learning on the Real Flight R/C slight sim. Costs nothing to "virtually" crash plus you can try out lots of different planes. It's surprisingly realistic!

The local Club had a Float/Fly this past weekend and I got two more flights in with my Hobbico Superstar .40 Trainer. (This time we used the buddy box!:D) I'm not sure about my instructor but I sure felt more at ease! The instructor said I was doing just fine and next Sunday at the club field he'd show me how to start doing approaches.

One thing about my plane that I dont like is the bottom of the wings are white with 3 small 2" stripes on one wing. Makes it Very difficult to see sometimes, especially to a new pilot. I'm ordering some monocoat in a couple of different colors to add more color to the bottom of the wings. Other than that, I've really enjoyed this plane.
