AR7000 issues
 
I am building at GP Cessna 182, got the DX7 and Ar7000 to go in it.. bind ok, had the rudder working, the throttle and elevator all good and the aileron was hit and miss.. work then not work.. and then finally the AR7000 died.. Went and bought another one while the original was sent back and it is dead out of the box.. Are these thing junk?

I have an old Futaba Conquest in mine, eric97217. At first, all the controls were prone to glitching until I plugged in another receiver with a longer antenna and then made a tighter connection for the ailerons to the receiver. That fixed the problem, and after 10 flights it seems to be doing just fine. There have been some problems reported with the batteries on the AR7000 receivers. It seems that they are more sensitive to undercharged batteries than typical analog receivers. Perhaps others here would know more.

I have four of them, so far, and not one glitch. I am using 1200 mah 6 volt (5 cell) NiMH battery packs, so I clearly exceed the minimum voltage required for the receiver. Perhaps you may try to use what I am using or something similar... 6 volt, anyway.

Definitely make sure your RX battery is fully charged. Charge it for 24 hours the first time new out of the box and monitor it carefully. If it goes low on you in flight the RX will reset and leave you w/o a RX for almost 5 seconds and a lot can happen (nothing good) in that time. A 6v pack or higher capacity 4.8v RX pack is becoming common with Spektrum systems in the field.

Up to 5 second reset isn't really 100% accurate. I can reset my DX7 Rx and it takes less than 1 second for the controller to see the Rx and gain total control. I've watched first hand as a person ran their battery pack a little to low for heavy load flying. The Rx reset and in no more than 2 sec's max he had total control back. Is this amount of time the norm? I don't know but a JR rep told me awhile back that it was the park flyer Rx that took the most time to reset. My recommendation as one Spektrum user to another would be the same as Bruce 6v or higher capacity 4.8v rx battery. I run 6v packs

I've had one bad AR7000, and one bad AR6100, both would lose bind after power was removed. I sent them back to Horizon and they replaced them. I've never had a problem with them in flight.

I had problems with the AR6100 , sent it in and they sent me a robot reciever back. Not what I bought and paid for.

That sucks, call them and tell them you want the 6100! If you're talking about the AR6000 robot receiver, that's not DSM2.

True you did say Almost. You also said “a lot can happen (nothing good) in that time”. Leading the reader to believe it’s going to take 4-5 seconds to reset “almost” every time. I’m just saying from my experience as a person who fly’s using a Dx7 that’s not the case. At least with my radio or the one in flight reset I’ve seen. No reason to take it as a personal attack I simply disagree with you. The complaints I take with a grain of salt. I'm sure you've had a radio hits in the past. Most 72 MHz radio hits I’ve had lasted less than a second but it feels like an eternity.
