RE: alpha 40 wing twist help..
Sure the wing is twisted or is it an aileron? Can you just adjust an aileron clevis and recenter your trim? If it was that bad when you got it you should have had it replaced back then. A bit late now. Is a crooked rudder making you compensate with ailerons? Just offering possibilities.

im sure its the wing..if i place 1 half on a flat surface and then do the same to the other side you can see that there is a difference..the hobby shop that i bought it from might replace it for me,ill talk to him this weekend.the plane wasnt bought all that long ago..

It's worth asking or maybe they can show you a remedy. Hard to do without actually seeing it up close.

RE: alpha 40 wing twist help..
Twisted wings are often said to be warped. When they are covered with Monokote or Ultracote, you can often remove the warp from the wing. It's often fairly easy to do.
You need a covering iron to do it. Block the wing at the root so it's held solidly. At the tip, twist the wing the opposite to the warp. The covering will wrinkle. While holding the wing so the warp isn't there, use the iron to remove all the wrinkles. When all the wrinkles are gone you can release the wing. The warp just might be gone. If it isn't then repeat the process. Sometimes you have to overtwist. It's a technique that all of us can learn and most already have. |

what DaRock said ...An iron might work but you 'll do it easier with a monokote heat gun. Heat up both top and bottom of the "twisted" wing and put in opposite twist ...more than you think will do the trick.... an extra pair of hands helps. hold the well warmed wing in place with opposite warp until cooled . recheck by visually siting the wing center (bottom) and compare to wing's outboard (bottoms) reheat and twist if needed. Having the bottom of the wing tips a little "up" equally is called washout and is helpful on flat bottomed trainer wings.
good luck!:) |
