Beginner Question
 

Greetings,
I have an LT40 ARF that I bought last April. Due to unanticipated delays, I am now just able to spend some time finishing it up. I have a few questions.

1. What is a good way to secure my
battery pack inside my plane ?

2. What is a good way to secure the fuel
tank inside the plane ?

I wrapped the battery pack in two layers 1/4 inch foam. I then wedged it all the way up against the firewall, underneath the fuel floor. With the two layers, it fits nice and snug and won't move during flight.

For the fuel tank, I also wrapped in 1/4 inch foam, that should take care of side to side movement. As far as front and back, I pushed it against the firewall and then secured the back of it with excess balsa, created sort of wall brace behind it. The balsa is strong enough to hold it and is easy enough to break if you ever need to remove the tank. I also CA'd a piece of balsa over it (CA the sides to the fuselage), however, keep enough clear that when you remove the hatch, you still have access to it. In the end, make sure it is secure, you don't want that sliding around.

Just wrap in in foam with a couple of rubber bands and poke it in a conveniant spot.

What the others said is great, also I've had good luck with just caulking (100% silicone) fuel tanks to the tank floor. Also put a little by the stopper where it goes into the firewall.

Not that I know anything about that plane but ages ago I built a Goldberg Eagle 2 and wrapped the receiver and tank in foam and used velcro straps to secure them to the floor of the fuselage.

I always use foam and rubber bands to mount tanks using glow.
I have had fuel foam before from vibration even with a balanced prop and the foam/rubber band method gives a dampening effect.
Don't always need the rubber bands. If the tank is in an enclosed compartment I try to pack it loosely on all 4 sides.

The following pictures show the battery pack which is attached to a piece of scrap and then cut off, giving it a little handle to help pull it from the nose area below the tank deck if needed, pic shows where it basically goes under the deck. The tank is forward to the front and is held in place with a brace at the rear, foam sides and hood. Very nice fit. The third fuel line is for a remote fueler. Just the way I built my LT.
