An old carb
Hi its me again.:D
Another question this time about carbs, I have been given an old carb for my OS H 40P it is sticky and I can not move the throttle arm and what to know do I strip it and soak it or just soak it. If stripping it is the option how do I start Thanks David |
RE: An old carb
It just dried castor oil.
Soak it in something to loosen the dried crud. |
RE: An old carb
soak it in some fuel.

RE: An old carb
sometimes a little heat from an air gun will work if after soaking it still does not want to rotate.it also helps to remove the barrel stop screw .

RE: An old carb
A dip in hot detergent (dish soap) and some movement should work well, a little oil will keep it loose until you use it.

RE: An old carb
WD 40, fuel, soap, denatured alcohol. all will desolve the gelled castor oil don't force it though:D make sure the jets are clear by putting some fuel line on the input nipple with a little fuel and gently ...GENTLY!! blowing. if you blow to hard it'll go ALL OVER and glow fuel taste like/// glow fuel;) oh yeah unscrew the needle valve first:D
I would save yourself some head aches and get a new Oring for the needle valve as they don't last long and will drive you nuts with air leaks. |
RE: An old carb
Thanks :D
