DX7 questions
I just bought a DX7 radio complete with servos, receiver, etc. My question is twofold:
Question 1: Can you use futaba servos with the DX7? I know you have to use the receiver to get a match with the transmitter. Someone told me if you broke the tabs off the futaba servos, they would work. Question 2: I use a field charger (hobbico) to do a quick charge on my futaba equipment sometimes. On the DX7, the Positive and ground are reversed, so I'll have to make up another cord for the transmitter. Is it the same for charging the battery in the plane? Or are they all standard? Thanks for any help, I'm fairly new to the hobby. Dapam03 |

First of all, you can use just about any servos with the DX7 DC7000 receiver. And you can use just about any 4.8 - 6 volt battery you like with the RX. And, yes, you can trim the tabs off of the Futaba servo leads and use them. I use Airtronics, Futaba, Hitec, and of course, Spektrum (JR) servos with mine.
The TX battery is the one with the reversed polarity plugs. I remove the battery from my DX7 TX and charge it outside the TX with my field charger. I made up a simple charge cord using the ones you can get from Tower Hobbies (Hobbico Charger Leads) with the banana plugs on one side and the RX plug on the other side, then pull off the covering from the plug. That leaves the pins from the plug exposed. I just plug them into the TX battery, Red to red and black to black and let it go from there. If you leave the battery in the TX, you can charge it overnight using the wall wart charger. CGr. |
RE: DX7 questions
1. yes, take a hobby knife and cut the tabs off.
2. no the plane, receiver battery, are all the same. Only the transmitter battery is reversed on JR radios (not sure about DX7 but I "assume" it is reveresed like other JR transmitters) |
RE: DX7 questions
I have a Futaba TX charge cable with banana plugs on the other end. I use that cable to charge both my Futaba 9C and my DX7, it will fit both. Since the DX7 has reverse polarity, I just swap the red & black banana plugs at the charger. The chargers I have show the battery voltage, and will not allow me to charge if I have reverse polarity, so I don't worry about forgetting to swap them.

RE: DX7 questions
Yeah.. I guess that's the engineer in me.. red to red.. and so on. :D But, you're absolutely right. It just doesn't matter as long as the polarity to the battery is right.

RE: DX7 questions
Hey PKH what charger do you have?
|
RE: DX7 questions
A Triton and a SuperBrain 969.

RE: DX7 questions
I do the same thing, I just swap the banana plugs on my AccuCycle Elite when I charge my DX7

RE: DX7 questions
Yeah.. probably right, Bruce... :D The more adapters the better!!! ha..

RE: DX7 questions
I got so many adapters I don't know what they are all for.

RE: DX7 questions
One of our $6 million ATE benches here came with adaptors. But to use them we needed to buy adaptor-adaptors. Just the adaptor-adaptors cost anther $25 thousand each.

RE: DX7 questions
Hey Bruce--I don't have any of those adapters.
|
RE: DX7 questions
I'm just glad that I didn't have to pay for them.[sm=cry_smile.gif]

RE: DX7 questions
Can't take all that money with ya--Bruce

RE: DX7 questions
I just want to hold onto it for a little while. Before the politicians get it.

RE: DX7 questions
Tell you what I'm gonna do. I'll have the Prez send you 1200 in May--How is that
|
RE: DX7 questions
OK, I'm depending on you. Don't let me down.

RE: DX7 questions
Are they going to tax the tax rebates? That would be the political thing to do.[:'(]

RE: DX7 questions
YUP!!!

RE: DX7 questions
Thanks for the response guys. I think i'll make up one for the transmitter and put a tag on it, so I don't get the wrong one. Eventually i'll use the DX7 for any airplanes I get once i'm done with the trainer.
