I live about 40min. from where I fly. I have a regular cab pick-up and would like to know if anyone came up with a good way to transport your airplanes without emptying the bed of your truck.

I have a Ford F 150 regular cab with a roll up bed cover. My 50cc 28% Edge will just fit in the back from front to back. I live about 40 some miles from my flying field. My planes go to and from the field without any damage so far.

I have a Nissan pickup with a cover on the back. I use shower curtain rods wrapped in foam to suspend planes above the bed of the truck. It works great, and you can easily remove them if you need to load other things in the truck.

This is what I carry my planes on in the van. When I had the pickup, I built something similar, but lower profile and it
worked great.

I put screws in the tops of the posts so I could secure the fuselages and wings with rubber bands.

I use a system the same as Safebet. I designed it to carry 4 planes. The only difference is that mine has PCV tubes that rotate over the top and latch on the opposite side. I place the unit in the back of my pick-up and then load the planes in there respective slots. Ithen use a cargo net over the top. I also use a cargo rachet strap around the legs but I really don't think it is nessary but I use it anyway. Wish I had a canopy or a trailer but have a wife and kids instead.:eek:

I don't like the planes out in the breeze when transporting them in the bed of my truck - too much turbulence at highway speeds. I've seen some damaged from turbulence before, so this is my solution. I'll be able to take them to work with me, and the flying is just over 5 minutes away. It also provides a safe storage area so I don't have to take them inside every night after flying.

Any chance we could get angle, top, side and back pictures of your stand w/o the planes in it?

Why can't I find 90 degree 3 axis PVC connectors? I guess they are never used in plumbing...

Don't forget to strap the stand into the bed, seen A few blow out. Use long scrap wood and rubber bands to hold the control surfaces from flapping around too, seen some servo damage after A long haul in the bed of A truck.

I also use a system similar to Safebet. But, be sure you use the thick wall PVC. My first stand broke at the base joint because I used the thin walled PVC.

thank you for all your thoughts and advice I believe that stand will work well.also the trade name for the thicker pvc is (schedule 80).I only have one plane and will probably design it as such with a carrying handle because i can store it in that rack in my (apartment).
