Contest
We have a contest at our feild soon. I am going to give it a try. We have to perform the following manuvers.
1. Take Off 2. Inside Loop 3. Roll, axial or barrel 4. Figure 8 5. Immelmann 6. Fly Past 7. ½ Cuban Eight 8. Stall Turn 9. Overshoot 10. Landing I am not sure what the overshoot is. Is there a site somewhere that I can reveiw these manuvers? I think I know what the 1/2 cuban 8 is. But am not sure. I think you go into a 45 degree climb roll inverted pull up elevator to complete a half loop???? Help please. I plan to go to the feild Satuday and ask but if I find out sooner I could pratice some durring this week after work. |

I downloaded information from the Jet Masters as I plan to enter in 2011
from the information Overshoot The model shall commence upwind and execute a circuit and landing approach in the manner of the prototype, descending smoothly at reduced power and speed and, in front of the judges at a height of approx. 3 metres, aborts the landing and applies full power. The model climbs on a constant track, heading and climb angle for approx. 5 seconds, during which time the landing gear is retracted. Retractable undercarriage (where fitted) is to be extended during the downwind leg of the circuit, and flaps, spoilers, speed brakes etc., are to be extended as per the full-size prototype. (all types) |
RE: Contest
OK its easy but I dont have retracts. Its a fun fly day so I guess I just have to fly by.
Where did you find that drawing/attachment? |
RE: Contest

RE: Contest
Traski, a 1/2 Cuban 8 is 5/8 inside loop (starting right side up) and when you are heading 45 degrees down in the opposite direction you a half-roll, then finish with 1/8 inside loop to level.
A 1/2 REVERSE cuban 8 is what you said; 1/8 loop to 45 degree line, roll inverted, then 5/8 inside loop, ending level. Nice to see you competing in a 'pattern' event! I wish more people knew what this was and tried it; it will challenge you and seriously improve your flying skills. I know this from first-hand experience;) Also check this out: http://nsrca.us/about-nsrca/pattern/120-maneuvers.html |
RE: Contest
Thanks gaRC!
Thanks everyone! I am comfortable with all those manuvers. Now to practice. We have to present our flight plan so I will put mine together and get after it. Looks like fun to me. I think my main competition is a 12 yr old kid, who is really damn good. Actualy I may place last but.....what the hell...no guts no glory! |
