Engine Rich or Lean???
I just got a Iron Bay Regulator for my Saito 125, the manual just calls for you too richen the HSN 2 turns out than normal. Then you can go ahead and tune as normal. So I did my normal tuning procedures, I leaned HSN until I reached peak RPM then richened until I dropped about 800 RPM. Flying around at about half throttle I have a nice steady smoke stream from the exhaust but as soon as I open to full throttle the smoke disappears. Does this mean anything??

RE: Engine Rich or Lean???
It might mean the LSN is set to rich.

RE: Engine Rich or Lean???
If the engine runs good and has good power I wouldn't worry about it

It could cause the smoke you see at the lower speeds

RE: Engine Rich or Lean???
On the ground and at a low idle (while secured), what happens when you go to full power quickly... cough, burble, excess smoke or die?
Does it go to full power instantly with no 'ramp-up' in speed?? Again on the ground From full power to idle, when AFTER the stick is brought to idle will the engine speed be the same or slowly sag??? |
