New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
1 Attachment(s)
The new H9 pts comes in tuskegee airmen colors, but has the wrong color pilot in it. Why is that? If you can change tail colors, can't you change pilot colors in the manufacturing process. I think it would have been cool to make it more realistic and historical.

RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
Maybe they didnt do their homework and don't know that the Tuskegee airman were black.

RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
Wooooops!
|
RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
I wonder how many points you would lose in a scale competition for something like that. :)

They could have at least picked a real name off the list. I'm sure that one of the families would have been honored. |
RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
Interesting goof! The second name on the list is a resident of my city and we've named a new elementary school after him. It was dedicated Oct 2008

Well its prety obvious they didnt do there homework. the Tuskege airmen used the p51 B model, it has the turtle deck canopy. the model they produced is the bubble canopy. Now I not sure if the airmen ever used the Bubble canopy plane, maybe they didnt. I have never seen a pict of the bubble one that they haved used. H9 really took libertys on this one. It really kinda makes me mad. they couldnt get that one right. I thank all of the families of the Tuskegeeairmen, they were real heros

RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
Well maybe its just that... all Americans look alike to the Chinese ;)
|
RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
I'm surprised that they got it that close. A lot of ARF's you see come with Asian looking pilots. Nothing wrong with an Asian pilot of course, especially in something like a zero but it does look a little out of place in other stuff.

Now I not sure if the airmen ever used the Bubble canopy plane, However, the Airmen flew 3 models of the P-51, the B, C, and D. I couldn't find when they transitioned to the -D model from the -C. They actually started out in P-40's, flew them from April '43 to June '44. They flew P-39's from March to May '44, and transitioned to P-47's during the summer of '44, and then to the Mustang. Pics of two -D models: "Tall in the Saddle" was flown first by Capt Wendell Williams, and later by Lt. George Hardy. "Creamer's Dream" was flown by Lt. Charles White |
RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
yeap your right. I remember the P-40's now. On the stangs, I just never saw the newer ones in the picts. well ok, I was wrong and H9 is off the hook, except for the pilot!

RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
Color is not everything, the vast majority of chinese ARF's when they do have pilots are grotesquely oversize. Scale airplanes are by their nature an illusion and if accurate illusions is your thing then ARF's and not gonna do for you.

Time to call NAACP! [sm=lol.gif] Just think of the bust as a "Light Colored Negro." :D Hey... paint isn't very expensive if it bothers you that much.

RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
I believe the invasion stripes are also incorrect. I don't think the Tuskeegee group flew
over Normandy. That been said, I'm sure that H9 chose the color scheme for looks and nothing else. The Tuskeegee colors are my favorite P-51 markings.:) |

ORIGINAL: skyraider71 I believe the invasion stripes are also incorrect. I don't think the Tuskeegee group flew over Normandy. That been said, I'm sure that H9 chose the color scheme for looks and nothing else. So........whether it was H-9's decision to glop a bunch of inaccurate and disparate markings on its new ARF, or somebody over in Asia who doesn't know diddly about the why's and wherefores of these markings, the stripes and the red tails don't go together. I do wish that companies who market "scale" models would at least try to make them historically accurate with their markings. For those who aren't into history as much as I, it leads to erroneous assumptions and knowledge of who, what, when, and where, and does no service or honor to the ones who were actually there. I think that when I build my SPAD XIII, I'll put invasion stripes on it. Hey, it'll be just as accurate:eek: |
RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
I just got the word...
I'll be doing the RCU Magazine review of this plane. I'll try to make it a little more accurate... Now where is that brown shoe polish? :D |
RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
The pilot does look far east around the eyes. As far as the color. He might pass for high yellow.[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
the invasion stripes aren't the only things incorrect....on the left side of the aircraft they have H9, then the star and bars then T...of course this isn't accurate markings..but I'll give them this liberty...on the right side of the airplane the H9 should also be in front of the star and bars, followed by the T..they have it reversed...
And while we are discussing mismarked airplanes how come you never see a swastika on a german airplane advertised in any magazine????? displaying the swastika is historically accurate...and not displaying the swastika doesn't change a thing |

RE: New H9 mustang has wrong pilot!
During the middle sixties I spent some time in Germany and was involved in some modeling and flying activities. I was informed by the LHS at that time 66/68 that display of the swastika on anything including scale models irregardless if it was an accurate finish scheme or not was aginst federal german law. I,ve no idea at all if this is still the case.
