What type of Starter?

What type of starter do you guys use in your flightbox?

And do you use one with a rechargeable NiCad pack? Or do you plug it into your power panel on your box?

The reason I'm asking is that I don't have one yet, I'm doing the chicken stick thing, and am about ready to move on up.

Currently I'm working with 40 sized 2 strokes if it makes any difference.

Thanks

I you are planning to stay in the .40 size engine range then get a Sullivan Hi-torque starter. Will turn it over nice. If you think you might like to go to bigger engines later, get a Magnum.

I went to the local battery store and found a 17A 12V closed cell battery for $45. Works great. The 6A gel cells are ok, but they loose power to fast.

I'm using the Kavan gear starter with a nicad pack of 2400 mah, good enough for my OS 140.

Starter

I have a Tower starter that I run through my power panel. I've had the starter for about ten years now and it's still starting :D .

I originally had one that plugged into my power panel and quickly found it to be a pain in the rear. Whatever brand of starter you get (Sullivan, Hobico, Tower, etc.) I would definately invest in a portable power pack.
