Thanks, Question If I use Spekrum dig servo and program one in reverse mode with a programmer can I use a plan Y harness on Ailerons

RE: Servo size

But you can use most of the name brand servos with the Spektrum receiver

RE: Servo size

flysright,

Go with the Magnum XL 91 RFS engine and the Airtronics 94102z standard servos in your plane. The deals at Hobby People is very nice right now and you should be well please with those components in your 60 size model.

JR is the brand that has different polarity (in the transmitter) but it should be a non-issue. The new Z-connector servos work with any receiver that will accept servos with z-connectors. (I have Hitec, Airtronics, and Futaba servos all plugged into my Airtronics receiver in one of my planes.)

I bought 4 of those metal gear servos for future use but they are larger and heavier than what I'd want in a 60 size model.

Regards,

Clay

Why use a "Y" harness? Your radio is capable of supporting dual aileron servos, so just make use of its capabilities. You should be able to program in aileron differential while your at it.

Hi thanks. Have not began to learn my Radio yet. Just learning how to build a good plane. I belive is is a good foundation to have under your belt.

This is only on older Airtronics servos. Everything that has been sold by Airtronics in the 5-6 years has had "Z" connectors on them which will allow them to connect to every other major brand. The easy way to tell is if the connector is black it's older Airtronics, and if it's a blue connector it's a "Z" connector that will connect right up.

Thanks for updating me Ken!!!

What are you using as a trainer?

It's probably easier to take hogflyer's suggestion than it is to reprogram your servo, and cheaper than buying a Y harness and servo programmer. Simply plug your left aileron servo into the AIL connector on your receiver, plug your right aileron servo into the FLAP or AUX1 (whichever you have) connector, and change your model's wing type to "flaperon". That setting automatically changes your flap connector to an opposite aileron connector, and will also give you flaperon ability on your flaps switch but you don't need to (and probably don't want to) use that. You could also leave your wing type alone, and program a mix from the AIL to FLAP that reverses the inputs, and disables the flaps switch.

If you really don't want to do it that way, just buy yourself a "servo reversing Y adapter" which looks like a normal Y adapter which a bit of circuitry in the middle that reverses one of the servos. Still cheaper than a servo programmer.

Hi will the Hitec HS-311 BE OK will be using 6v instead of 4.8. The futaba 3003 servo specifications are 44.3 oz/in @ 4.8V and the Hitec is 51 oz/in if I use 6v and 42 oz/in @ 4.8

Thanks

Yep they'll be fine. I'm using HS311's for the flaps on my harmon rocket. They're not going to be quite as speedy or precise as the spektrum DS821's I use for the rest of the flight surfaces, but the 821's are overkill - I just happened to have them so I used them. And at AU$60 for the DS821's and AU$15 for the HS311's the Hitec's are much better value for basic use.

Thanks. I found the 821 at Hobby Hanger LHS just outside of WDC where I just finished a job, it is a very nice hobby shop. Thay also have many RTF airplanes with the price range from 7000.00 to 100.00. The fellow that ownes the hobby shop has been flying planes for more then 30yrs. He builds all the RTF his self for resale, it would be very nice to have one of these hobby shops close to the house. Well back on the Road.

Thanks to all for all the Help.

821s have become my favorite servos. Great performance, and available for ~$20 each.

Hi, Did you buy your 821's on line? I found mine out of town working for 20.00 at a Hobby Hanger. Would like to find a store on line that offers this price. Thanks for sharing the nice coments about the Spektrum servo. I hope they work well for me to.

Thanks

I buy most of mine at RCG. Lately I've been buying a lot of things in the forums there. It's how RCU's swapshop used to be.
