RE: foam safe spray paint?
I used testors model spray paint, and krylon makes a paint called short cuts. Always test on a piece of scrap foam first.

Enamels are typically safe to use on foam...but they can be heavy if you use a lot of it...spray in light coats and as few as possable.
Just to be sure though, I would do a test on a scrap piece of foam before shooting the whole plane/wing, etc. |

I repainted my F-27 Stryker with my airbrush, and I used water thinned latex paint. When it dries, it is quite light. You may be able to do it with a brush if you thin it right.

There is a Minwax Polycrylic sold at major harware stores. It is water based. Use this as a base coat and sand with a fine grit sand paper between coats. This will seal the foam and allow you to use most any spray paint. The Testers works well.
I like the Minwax base coat because you can sand off the beer cooler foam look and make a smoother finish. |

Good paint to use on foam is Krylon Kids Tuff. Non toxic and the propellant won't attack foam. Excellent coverage and no primer or sealant needed.</p> |
