RE: How old are you?
Well, it seems on average we are hands down much older than the car folks :D
As much as I like this hobby I get very little time to enjoy it. I have a demanding job that requires frequent travel, working on a graduate degree, and have a young family which is always priority #1 as it should be. If I get to fly once a month it is a luxury, so don't be surprised if you see me hanging around this forum for a couple years ;). |
RE: How old are you?
50yrs and just started 4months ago and man this is a blast from building to flying. Oh TakingFlight96 very cool!

RE: How old are you?
I will be 68 Monday. Started flying/building control line about 1951 when I was 10. Still have my first engine - an OK Cub .049B. Started flying RC in 1973 with a Kraft Series '73 7 channel single stick system, a RCM Trainer 60, and a Fox Eagle I. Flew single stick exclusively until last summer when I got a Futaba 7C Fasst system. I get out to the flying field 3-4 times a week. I currently have 9 planes on trickle charge ready to go on a moments notice. My current projects are refurbishing a Svenson Wayfarer biplane I originally built in 1976 and assembling a GP RV-4. It is great being retired:D.

RE: How old are you?
I'm 22 now, being flying rc since 2004 and started in 2002 with rubber powered. My father did some CL and Free Flight in the 80's before I was born. I still have a plaque from 1954 from my father's uncle, that he got after participating in an event.
I guess it runs in the family. |
RE: How old are you?

RE: How old are you?
Just turned 27 at the end of July. Got my first RC Plane (Tower Trainer) when I was 12, quit the hobby when I went away to college at 18, and just got back into it about a year ago.
I can't believe how much its progressed in 8 years, getting back made me realize just how much I missed it, but also makes me enjoy it that much more. |
RE: How old are you?
I was 70 years young in Februry, Been in and out of model building for 61 years of them! Been a draftsman / designer in about every engineering field for 30 yers, been designing giant scale Rc for about 5 years. Work full time for a Civil Engineering firm.

RE: How old are you?
I am 38 and got into this hobby about 3 years ago. Like Orangehat, I dived in full bore and now have about a dozen electric planes and just about as many glow engines. I probably spend more time teaching people to fly now than I do flying myself. I have always loved flying and have several hours at the controls of my neighbor's Cessna 182, but he got in bad health and sold it several years ago. This, along with marriage and kids, has delayed getting my pilots license for now. When my youngest girl gets in High School, a couple years from now, I am hoping to get into something full scale. Maybe with some luck it will be a 172 or 182, but I'd be happy with anything that flies! :D
Even if this comes to be, I will probably always enjoy flying Rc and teaching others to. If for no other reason, it's good fellowship with great people!;) |
RE: How old are you?
I will hit 50 the day after Thankgiving. Been into the hobby since i was 25.

RE: How old are you?
I am 49. Started in 2000 or 2001. I have built 3 kits, assembled a few ARFs, and have a couple of projects going. I've learned a lot, there is still so much to learn. Still a beginner in many ways.

RE: How old are you?
I'm 33, started about 6 months ago and am hooked. Have already moved to giant scale and have taken to the hobby rather quickly. I have wanted to do this for about 12 years since racing cars in college. Interestingly enough, most people believe this is an older crowd's hobby. I can tell by the posts this is a hobby for all ages.
