whats missing?

1 Attachment(s)

My dad gave me this engine as is never used. I am assuming this is missing an adjustment needle. I dont know if there is supposed to be one on the side of the carb where that black hollow piece is or just like a remote mount needle on the back, or both. Its a magnum pro .45. Does anybody know where Ican get the parts for this or what was supposed to come with it?

Thanks

You are missing two parts. the high speed needle valve and the detent spring. The Magnum needle valves are mostly common asross the line, so If you have another Magnum engine, that valve will most likely work. You can get the replacements at Hobby People's parts http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/282310.asp

PS
Looking back, this may not be the right engine. Call their parts people, they are very good at helping and if worse comes to worse, you can probably put in a current model carb. They will be able to tell you though.

Thats the original carb that came with the engine brand new. Does a new style carb have a different style adjustment needle or something?
Also did you mean parts people at magnum or hobby people?</p>

I'm not sure about the needle betwee your carb and current product.

Hobby People and Magnum are one in the same as far as engines go.

A friend of mine might have some parts for it. He has a few of these Magnum Pros and buys and sells regularly.

Campgems has given you good info and a link to call about getting a new needlevalve and the detent spring (good eye Camp).

That model Magnum engine has been out of production for some time. The reason the needle valve and its detent spring is probably missing is frequently they are packaged separately with
new engines and it may be that package was lost or misplaced since the engine was never run.

That is the original type carb and it is a front needle type not a remote needle valve (thats a plus in my book).

For what its worth I beleve the Magnum Brand of chinese manufactured engines are distributed in the US by Hobby People at the link Campgems provided.

I know that suggesting a person make an actual phone call is absurd in the year 2009, but, Hobby People is the retail arm of Global Hobby and they likely have the parts you need. Global Hobby is the US importer of Magnum engines.

Here is the info if you want to call them.

You can reach us at the following phone number: 1-714-963-0329 or fax to 714-964-6236. A customer service representative will be happy to assist you. The hours a live person can respond to your inquires are Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please note that these time are Pacific Time. During periods of high numbers of phone calls, the customer service personnel may not be able to answer your call 'live'. If you leave a message including your name and phone number with area code, your call will be returned as soon as possible - unfortunately, during busy times this could be several hours or more. It is helpful to ask your question or state the reason for the call in your message so the as much info as possible may be gathered before the return phone call is made.

Most likely this is the assembly you need and it is ten dollars

I already ordered a needle assy from them last night. Thanks for the link though and for letting me know we still have phones.

For the others that helped without being sarcastic thanks again.
