Continuous tone from receiver
I could use some help.

You're probably hearing whining from your servos. Perfectly normal to hear a soft, high pitched tone. FYI, NEVER turn off the transmitter while the battery is connected. I fly with a couple of guys who have the scars to prove that this is a very bad idea. The motor can go to full with no transmitter input.

Sounds like this is an electric plane ? The tone is from the ESC. Turn on Tx now lower the throttle stick and trim all the way down. Now plug in the planes battery, should hear one beep. Next raise the throttle stick to full power (up), should hear another beep. Now lower the trottle all the way again, you should here a number of beeps . 3 beeps for a 3 cell battery 4 beeps for a 4 cell etc.. Now the ESC is armed and the prop will spin when throttle stick is raised. Bob |

The throttle works properly, the motor spins up and down with the throttle stick, in fact everything works. But sound is there and is more pronounced when the aileron servos are operated.

Is the sound as loud as the beeps when you turn it on? Or lower, like a hum?

It is not like a beep, more like a high pitch continuous tone.

Could be the Aileron servo ? Is it binding ? Is there just one servo for the Ailerons ? Try unpluging the Aileron servo (s), does the tone go away ? Try un hooking the aileron linkage and see if the servo is centered. Bob |

It is not the aileron servos. The sound is there whether the aileron servos are connected or not. It is just more intense when they are connected. I already tryed re-binding the receiver. There are 2 servos for the ailerons using a Y connector. The servos is centered. Everything works fine, another user on this forum assembled the same kit and is having the same problem. Could this be a bad receiver batch?

Big question is, does the noise affect the flight of the model? If not, no worries. Isuspect a capacitor or something in the ESC making noise. If the plane works ok, just fly it.

I just bought a whole lot of stuff from a guy getting out of the hobby. Included were three airplanes with R607FS receivers in them. Two of them are dead silent when in use, but the third one has a rather loud hum/buzz in it any time it is turned on. Doesn't matter whether the transmitter is on or not, if the receiver switch is turned on, the receiver hums. Everything works fine, so I have not delved into the cause, but I will try to figure out what causes it before I fly it.

I got a call back from HorizonHobby support... apparently the sound is normal and comes from the motor. Case closed.
