os 120 fs ???
i have a couple questions regarding my os120 fs (non-pumped) engine
i bought the plane used for a steal of a price - just want to get more familiar with it 1) i have a fuel line that wraps along the top of the firewall, in the middle of the line is a fitting with a screw in cap. what is this for? i can a pic if needed 2) the carb as a flap with a stiff wire leading down to beneath the cowl, nothing is hooked to the stiff wire so in order to move the flap, i would need to manually twist the wire. what is this set-up for? do i need to do anything with it? should the flap on the carb be in any speceific position idling though wide open throttle? again i can get a pic if needed. thanks for the help |
RE: os 120 fs ???
Flap?...do you mean the carb is wired full open as in a control line engine,,?..or it has like some choke flap on top of the carb...pic might clear things up...Rog

RE: os 120 fs ???
It sounds like a fuel fill line and a choke but pictures would probably help nail it down a little more.

RE: os 120 fs ???
The flap is a choke. The older OS four strokes had a choke on them, but they don't on the newer models.
As for the fitting. It sounds like a fuel filter. A picture would help to identify what it is. Ken |

1 Attachment(s)
valve at top of firewall
choke choke and wire |
RE: os 120 fs ???
The "flap" on the carb is definitely a choke.
Although I'm not sure what the other item is. Hopefully Minnflyer or someone else will be able to recognize what it is. Ken |
RE: os 120 fs ???
Most of the pictures are illegible but yes you do have a choke which were dropped quite some time back as they are really not neccessary.
From your description the other line with a cap sounds like a tee for some sort of fueling senario. I would recomend just using a two line system like any trainer. Does this engine have the pushrods behind the cylinder or in front of the cylinder? John |
RE: os 120 fs ???
I agree, that looks like some sort of fueler, but I have no idea how it would be used. Never seen one like that

RE: os 120 fs ???
Ok guys, thanks for the response! I now know what that green cap is for. It is to regulate kerosene flow for the smoke system.

RE: os 120 fs ???
Ah ha! You said it was a fuel line. I was wondering why you had neoprene fuel line on a glow engine :D
|
RE: os 120 fs ???
I only assumed it was a fuel line of some sort. Didn't really know (obviously lol) until I was able to speak to the original owner.
