Default Will this work?

I have a Husky Sport park flyer from North East Sailplane. It comes with a 280 geared motor, 350 ma nicad and an Aveox A15 speed controller. The questions is - will the speed controller still work if I substitute a LiPoly battery or will I need to buy a new speed control?

Well, your speed control wouldnt burn out, but there is one thing to consider. It isnt meant for the nessessary cutoff rate for LiPo. (2.7 -3 volts per cell) But if you time your flights, and make sure you never go below that, you will be fine. (timing is better than relying on a cutoff anyway, because you always have power to make a safe landing...)

Also, your 280 would be ok on a 2 cell lithium battery, but a 3 cell would likely burn it out in a few flights. A 2cell should be plenty of power though.

Thanks BadSplice, that's what I was hoping to hear. A 2 cell pack would be a 2S1P, right?
