Re-using Zagi motor
 

I am planning on building a fixed foam winged airplane with rudder and elevator only and reusing the old Zagi esc (20), and motor but I remember that You can't turn a glow pusher into a "puller" but is it OK to place the electric motor in the front if I change the prop?

Is the motor brushed or brushless? What is the weight of the new fomie?

I plan on keeping the weight the same as or even lighter than the Zagi 16 oz without the battery pack. It is a brushed motor but there are no markings on it as to size or amps. Am I OK turning the motor to the front?

If the CG is okay, then there is no reason why you can't fit the motor in the nose.

Unfortunately I am still using the old Ni-Cad battery pack and the CG is instantly variable with a little velcro fastening! I'm glad to hear that reversing the motors pull/push direction wont add to the "wear out" time. I'm not very good at posting pics but I'll try to get You one, once I cut the wings and fuse. Thanks for the info. Dan

That motor is a Speed 400 size motor. Or most of the older Zagi are that. Be sure to keep oil on the bearings.
It cost about $10 max and you throw away after the brushs are worn out.
Once you are up and flying it is worth it to replace with a better motor with bearings. It will be more effiecient so your flight times will be extended and less heat in all of your electronics.
The better replacment will run you $20-$25 but will last much longer.
