REDS R5R v2 or Ultimate M5?
Hey guys,
Which of these nitro engines / brands have good experience with or have heard good things about? I have had both recommended, but can not decide which one I should choose and throw in my Losi 8ight 3.0.
I have made a small list of benefits for each of the two engines:
REDS R5R v2
- Spare parts in stock
- New 2015 model
Ultimate M5
- New 2015 model
- O-ring seal between the motor housing and cooling tower (see picture)
If I choose to buy REDS, I’am also going to buy their recommended exhaust and manifold. Overall cost of the motor sets (REDS and Ultimate) are virtually the same.
Thanks in advance! :-)

Ps. This is my first post on this site so I hope that I’am doing it right.

You have done everything right with your post...but I doubt many around here will be able to answer your actual question with experience of either engine.
Couple of things I will say though...the seal around the head button does not (in my experience) have much function.
Also there are many cheaper engines that perform well...one that I do have experience with is the Novarossi P5...whilst I do not race I can tell you that it is a great engine with plenty of torque and revs out well.
