Default header melting pullstart

my pullstart handle is right next to my header and has melted a little. is there something that i can wrap that small section of header with to keep it from doing this? heat tape or muffler tape or some unmeltable hose?

if u kno ne tmaxx owner's 1 of them might give u a bit of heatproof hose that traxxas put on there fuel tubing. its pretty useless so they probaly took it of already just ask sum1 if they got a bit. would be ideal.

hey , thanks alot. i didn't even think of that. it's actually melting the little plastic barrell that the cord goes through. i just don't want it going any further and it's making my pipe look like crap. thanks again.

i know exactly what you mean. i used it on my maxx when i had it. it's kind of a fiber material that goes over the fuel line for protection from rubbing and heat. oh yeah , your pics. didn't show.

Try replacing the plastic piece with neoprene fuel line, I use that stuff on my gas engines for smoke oil, the temps of a gasser will far exceed the temps of a nitro engine. Just pull the starter up, clamp it so it doesn't rewind it's self and replace the section with a small piece, you'll have to cut the knot out and redo it on the handle. This stuff is stiffer than silicone fuel tubing and gives ample support to hold the handle upright.
