Default .18 CV-R questions

I finally have this beast tuned in to the point where its like a bat out of hell, but now to get the temps correct. As I have read everywhere... tune to the point where your engine best performs, not its temp.

What is a good temp range to stay around? I am easily 230-260. It runs in the 250s more often though.

i have heard of people running them up to 280 with no probs. mine ran around 260-270 pretty contantly once thoroughly run in. depends how much u trust ur temp gun tho - i go for smoke trails, power, and idle time more than temps. mine idles for about 20-30secs, now its run in, yes thats a bit rich, but my bodyshell is a bit of a pain to get on sometimes! so i set the tune to suit that. temp dropped a lil bit to around 250 like this, but for run in i wanted to make sure it heat cycled properly.

running mine on 25% fuel, and an os t1030 pipe, works very well.

good little engine tho eh? i love mine to bits.

20-30 seconds? thats it? mine could idle forever if I let it. Its running that solid right now.

lol, no it will run at idle for ages like u say, but i found that leaning it a tiny bit more on the lsn gave me even more power on takeoff, a little longer run time, and enough time to get the shell on.

i thought i had got as much as i could from it, but just tried a quick tweak one day, and it just pepped it up that little bit more. real crisp response. lol, could go on like this for a while... i had about a gallon thru it at the time - oh i also port matched my header, which seemed to make it a little happier too, darent attack the sleeve tho, it works so well as it is.

OK here is an issue thats bugging me a LOT. I am getting fuel that is spitting out somewhere on the engine. Its somehow getting on the flywheel ans praying to the fuel tank and also onto my pipe. Since this truck doesnt have a primer, i use about 4 inches of fuel line, hook up to the pressure system and blow fuel into the carb. Sometimes i end up with fuel spitting out from the front of the engine. I have taken pics, and they show no signs of fuel build up! They are basically worthless to post. Any ideas? My buddies pro .15 does this on his maxx all the time. We have replaced his front bearings, fuel lines and all that jazz... both of us are lost.

Anyone... anyone at all? The fuel lines are BRAND NEW, but there is no sign of leak to be seen.

OH here is another question. Which motorsaver filter will fit this mill eh? I would love to have one of them on there instead of my OS filter.

someone suggested it comes from the front bearing when the engine is running too rich on the bottom end.

Mine does the same thing... just started to notice it about 2 weeks ago.. have about 1 gallon thru it by now... Only a small amount of fuel around the carb and head... Could be the bearing or the air filter seal around the carb... As far as temps go.. I never tunefro temps.. only smoke and speed... my venom tells me its about 260 to 280 anyway... I have had it higher when running in the 95degree temps in the grass with the body on...

I just put one in my RC10GT. What did you guys end up with for needle settings? Just after break-in I got 1 3/4 out on hsn and about 3/4 in from flush on lsn(11J rotary carb). Still lots 'o smoke and runs about 260 (Venom temp gauge). Wondering if it'll be able to go a little leaner later on down the road.

RCCA had their os engine 4.5 turns in from flush... thats fast! Now here is my problem.. I need new clutch shoes. I have a question though, is aluminum better? or is the terrible slipping traxxas stock clutch setup better? I need a quick fix! The darned kid who had it before me literally roasted the clutch, its glazed worse than i have ever seen before in my life!
