Can any one tell me adsactly how the spit test works. I don't tune my engines by TEMP. but i'm sure one of mine is way too cold but shows no signs of being rich. Thanks

The spit test is where you spit on the cylinder of the cylinder head and see how long it takes to boil off. It is really a cheap temp. gauge, but I would RECCOMEND you get a temp. gauge as soon as possible!

Okay temps: If you spit lightly on the cooling head, it should sizzle and evaporate in 3 secs or more (that is okay).
Temps on the edge: If it is just less than three seconds, you are probably pushing the envelope of temps.
Too hot: If it sizzles/evaporates in an instant or two, that means you are in danger. Usually that happens at 290+.

Thats cool, i'm not going to buy a temp gun i don't need one i can normally tune by ear and touch, but this engine is old and on its last legs, to be fair i think its worth throwing the thing away and using one of my new engines. If you touch the head it feels way to cold, if you then lean it out it bogs down and conks out through lack of fuel, i don't think it has alot to do with tuning, i just think its buggered. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
