Default My Hellfire

so.. ran a tank through yesterday without throttle, then at half throttle for 2 tanks, then let rip.

did a fair bit of tuning but it still seemed sluggish under acceleration.

fiddled with idle screw today after having my pipe fall off (lol), and it would accelerate ok(ish) but would move when idle. so slapped it back to factory settings on idle screw just now and leaned it out just a bit, then leaned the low speed screw until it accelerated fairly swiftly(quarter turn in all).

Now my dilemma is... theres lots of blue smoke... all the time

mainly on accelerating but also some on full throttle.

am i running too rich on low end? how do i know whether i need to adjust the idle or low speed needle?

Thanks

Aaron

there is nothing wrong with blue smoke, smoke is good, it means your engine isnt using up all its oil, it has enough to burn and spit out, also how many tanks have you run through it? nomral old school break in procedures are absolutely horrible, use this, read after post #5 http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2786285/tm.htm how hot is it running? dont usually worry about temps, tune for crisp acceleration, godd top speed, and a good smoke trail

it's had roughly 8 tanks through it in the 2 days i've had it, temperature is at around 230 after full throttle so i assumed that was about right.

sounds good, you could prolly run slightly leaner for better performance, but if you can maintain 230-240 that is awesome

Many engines do not really hit their stride until 1 gallon has been run through them.
