Default Hellfire SS engine

After thinking I was going to get a touring car, I have decided against it. I like the hellfire SS kit and am planning on ordering one soon.

What would be a good engine for that kit? It will be ran on and off road...

What is your price range for an engine. I would say for the money go with an LRP

An axial 28 is almost identical to the stock engine in it.

Been chatting with a guy that seems to be very knowledgeable and he recommended the STS 30 with out the "special Machined crank"

I guess they dont make a 2-speed for that truck?

I didn't recommend that you go for the one without the 'special machined crank'. I simply said I think the standard version would be fine for you. If you want, go for the modded one...

They might make a two speed for the Hellfire (or at least may do in the future), but that would eliminate the center diff which is quite important. These engines have so much torque, a 2 speed is not necessary anyway. Better to keep the center diff.
