since my LST2 i orded could take anywhere from a month to 6 week to get in at the LHS, i'v decided i will be upgrading it some, including a new engine, i first though an STS D30M, but i know it isnt the best quality engine there is, and there are engines with similar power out there, but the STS is still an option, i would like something i can get locally and not have to order over the net, so it narrows the choices down somewhat, although my LHS can get a fair few engines in so any suggestions are welcome.
the choices i have in my head right now are as follows
STS D30M
RB TM928 (at the moment my top choice)
novarossi 528 (would be my top choice if it want $650)
LRP .28 spec 3 (gonna have to get ordered in if i choose this)
ninja .28 (not to keen on this as i haven't heard many good things on reliability)
are there any other engines which may be worth looking into that anyone can suggest, i am looking more for top end power then low down torque as more torque is harder on the drive train and more high end will usually give a smoother power band instead of dropping off once the speed picks up.

I have heard that the STS 30 has the power over the high end engines, its just you have to baby the STS engines for about 1 - 1 1/2 gallons. and you have to that long on $400+ engines. I heard that the rb928 eats fuel really bad to go with the 728. the lrp 28, I heard its a SH engine, that I would go with the sts over the lrp. the ninja I heard alot of good things about it. but I would pick either the STS 30 or the Novarossi 528

Ninja 28 as far as I know isn't an option for an LST2, cuz it's bumpstart only..
The RB 928 and Nova would be the dream powerhouses...
The LRP Spec 3 or Picco 28 - based on almost everything I've read, heard, and seen - are what you want - OVER the STS...

The D30M has the potential to exceed Novarossi engines with some mods, a good choice in pulg and pipe, and with a good tune (actually, on the leaner side). The thing of course is, since it is a Chinese product, the materials and metallurgy are inferior to that of Novarossi and even picco. That is why it is leaps and bounds cheaper than the Italian engines.
But for an LST, I say hell with it and put one in. I have a D30M in my daily basher Savage ant it is loads of fun! In an LST, I gauranty you will definietly enjoy it also.

it looks like i might be going the novarossi, it's only $50 more then the RB, and i already have an RB in my revo so i'd like to try a different manufacturer anyway, plus knowing i have a top quality engine helps in the decision to blow $600 on an engine.

Well if the inclination is there - AND the funds - to get the best engine money can buy, then by all means go for it...
And if you do get a Nova in your LST2, MAKE VIDS.

performance i'm hopping will still be worth the extra though, talked to the guys at the hobby shop and they recommend the RB 728 because it's got more low end then the 928 (soposedly better for bashing but i like the TM523 over a picco max as a basher), and the 728 is $100 cheaper, i still think the nova or 928 though, and since the hobby shop stocks RB engine, but will only order in the nova i'm leaning to the 928 at the moment.
(then again the guy at the shop tried to convince me that there was only a 3 port version of the nova, no 8, and that apart from that the 928 and 528 are exactly the same engine
)

i want something i can look at and go, wow thats fast, not for anyone else, i usually drive on my own anyway, but i just want something i can look at and be amazed everytime i see it going, i'm leaning towards the RB 928 atm because the LHS stocks parts for them if something go's wrong, the nova i'd have to order off the net, i will be bashing 60% of the time, racing about twice a month (monthly meets at two different clubs)

I dunno, if you really want to blow the money then thats your choice. Maybe my personal lack of funds over the years has made me instinctively choose the cheaper alternative[&:]
