I have raced both engines. As stated before, they are both great engines for the price. It's hard to find better/powerful engines for the bucks. The only thing about Picco 28 was the carb that can be difficult to adjust.

I reviewed the LRP .28 Spec3 Truggy -> http://www.myrcbox.com/review_lrp28_truggy.htm

And the Picco .28 -> http://www.myrcbox.com/review_ofna28_engine.htm

Hope this help !

You want a colder plug for higher nitro otherwise it will pre-ingite (not good)

From what i gather fitting a big block to the revo require new mounts and can be tricky, I think the 18TZ has enough grunt to make a revo fly and its still a small block, search around the traxxas forum loads of stuff in there.

for the revo i would suggest a picco 26 max. It has big block power in a small block sized engine. It only needs a new mount. Or the new RAVE is the RB 523. For about 260 you can get that which comes w/ pipe and mount and ive heard is a very nice piece.

I still will never understand the argument that the Picco is harder to tune... If you spend a whole of 5 MINUTES and seal the thing with red RTV (as you should every engine you own to keep it running conistent throughout it's life), the thing is DEAD EASY to tune... I can tune my Jammin JPX .28 faster than I can any other engine I own, and it holds it tune just as well.

For $200 you have one of the most powerful, DURABLE (see the guy who has 25 gallons through his JPX .28 on all original parts), amazing engines money can buy. To boot, if you spend a few bucks and get it modded by supertib, you'll have the strongest engine out of any... Oh and did I mention the fuel mileage is better?

To me it's a no brainer to go for the Picco/JPX over the LRP. But I understand everyone's different. I'd rather be the guy stompin all the LRP fanbois at the park/track!

I'd rather be doing something else than dragging this old dead topic back up to talk more senseless smack... Lots of guys would probably beat you around the track with a Mach 427...
