Default New Engine but still same problem!

Ok...my son has a redcat tornado. It was fine at first then after a month or so it would not go full speed. I changed the gears and exhaust. Its a 2 speed. Still was not going full speed. A local shop said it didn't seem like engine was putting out full power and may have lost compression. Anyway so I purchsed a RCPower Ops italian engine. I installed it and still the same thing! It seems like something is restricting the buggie from going full speed. What could be the problem? I have checked to make sure the tires are not rubbing against anything and that no rocks or anything is stuck anywhere that would restrict it? If anyone has any advise i would appreciate it.

did you change both gears (1st and 2nd) both spur and pinion? is it adjustable? could be thats its locked in first. trying to troubleshoot.

Also, if it is adjustable then the shift point can have affect on top speed.

don't tell me, bought it at the hobby shop right? sounds like shifting problems, or tuning problems. i'm leaning towards tuning since the weather has changed in the last month. the original engine is probably fine, mine lasted about 4 gallons and that was without any air filter oil.

I did change both gears. I didn't change the clutch thing that makes it shift thow. But i did do several adjustments on it to see if it did shift but it never got to a decent speed to shift. when i take off it does hesitate. Some one else told me to make sure i don't have any air leaks in the fuel lines or exhaust. A while ago i tried it again. I notice when the fuel is going thru the fuel line, there are several air bubbles going thru also. Could this be the cause of the problem?

You should never have air bubles in your fuel line. Check on the places the fuel line hooks up to something ie, the tank the fuel inlet the fuel filter and so on. I put zip ties on mine you know the tiny zip ties or you can use a small piece of fuel tubing. Just to make sure you have a good seal. Check it out. And then go from there. you can start by putting all new fuel line on if you have not already done that.

To check to see if the fuel tank has an air leak, take the tank off. Fill the sink with water and submerge the tank, have both the fuel line and the pressure line above the water. Blow in the fuel line, but keep a finger over the pressure line. If you see nay bubbles there's an air leak, if not then you dont have one. Also make sure the carb nut is nice and tight, you can also check there for an air leak also. While the engine is running take a soapy water solution in a squirt bottle and spray around the carb's base. If you se any air bubbles or if the engine dies or, the engine's rpm's drop then there's a really good chance you have an air leak. Just take some Heat resistante silicone and place a tab or two around the base of the carb. Then you'll be good.

BUt is the engine tuned right though, if the engine isnt tuned right it will never reach a high enough speed to get it to shift. Hence no top speed, and the hesistation at take off.
