A modded NR 528, picco 28, OS 28 will have some torque.

For low end torque, go with an engine of .30ci or more. Dont go with a high-revving big block with long timing duration, they will have too long of an exhaust duration and thus sacrifice their trapped compression ratios. The result being that low end torque suffers.

The OS .30VG is a good start for such low end torque power. The Axial .32, and its very ssimilar cousin, the Surefire .32 are also good bets. There are some outrageous engines such as the ThunderTigre .70ci that will be serious low end torque monsters. These basically are modifed aiplane or heli engines with SG shafts or RC car/truck shafts to be used in cas/trucks. Alternatively, if you are a decent fabricator with a lathe, you can buy a large displacement 4-stroke airplane engine and modify your truck to mount it.

Bear in mind that pullers are meant to have very low gearing to maximize torque. So, when you choose a low RPM torque monster, be sure to calculate your gear ratio and match that to the engin's best Torque RPM. Otherwise, going to low of gears would result in your engine running at too high of RPMs.

the OS .30 makes less torque than the Picco .28 and Novarossi 528 stock. Here is a little bit of food for thought.
OS .30
1.80HP
74.88 oz-in

Picco .28 Team Turbo
2.00HP
76.89 oz-in

Novarossi N528XR
2.03HP
81.01 oz-in

As a reference the AB Mods Picco .28 made
2.42HP
83.51 oz-in
