hi i just received my new hyper st. and cant wait until tomarrow to start the break-in of the macstar .28. anyway im already thinking about a new and better mill to put into it. so heres my question. what are your thoughts on what engine to up-grade to? or what are you other truggy owners(esspecially you hyper st guys) running in your truggy? i was thinking about the jammin jpx .28 or the trinity extech fully modified .24. what are your thoughts and what do you guys like? well thanx, clay unruh

Well, run the Macstar first to see how it is. Then go from there.

Depends of course what you want to do.. If you want to race you need to think about run times, and the 28's aren't ideal for that..

An OS 28 is a pretty excellent match for a Hyper ST though.. With pipe and carb insert I think you can squeeze out some decent run times, and the OS has got to be the most powerful stock 28 you can get..

I'm a cheapskate though, so personally would go with an LRP Spec 3 Truggy... If I were more patient and tolerant of potential (and real, re the carb..) extra fiddling I might go with the Jammin 28 for the extra power. For my money though I personally would feel more comfortable buying an LRP.. Just me though..

I had and raced a Mach 427 with closed backplate in my Hyper ST Pro. Wasn't stupid over the top crazy powerful or anything, but very nicely powered I would say. And ten minutes to a tank.. Nice compromise for the somewhat heavier Hyper - more oomph than a 21, but a bit smaller and not as thirsty as a 28.. All that said, despite lots of guys in US forums saying the Hyper is too heavy for a 21, I personally don't believe it. Or let me rephrase that - I guess it depends on the track. If you've got huge jumps with short run-ups then OK you might need more oomph.. A well set-up Hyper can be pretty quick though with a VSPEC for example.. And lots of guys in Europe even run RB WS7's in them - normally considered more a buggy engine...
