hi all
i was wondering if anyone could find a backplate for ay hyper .28 that would allow me to fit a pullstart, i also have an hpi savage 4.6 backplate with pullstart which fits perfectly and works untill you tighten the bolts, could i possibly use a spacer or something because i dont want it to cost me like £50, i also have a mach 28 backplate that was given to me by the seler and the said that it may fit, but of course it does not, the backplate came with a rotostart which works and the engine is barely broken in so i know it will run perfectly.
if it turns out i cant use the rotostart anyone interested in the backplate i can sell it for £10
and the rotostart £25
postage on both seperatly is £5
and for both it will be £35 posted
all posting has to be inside uk
thanks in advance

Wouldn't you have to change the crankshaft in order to put a pullstart on the engine?

actually i have managed to scource a hyper .21 backplate and one way bearing that fits perfectly and works well, it looks as if it was designed with a pullstart and the bumpstart plate was an option. there is another problem though...... the main bearing cage has fallen off the back of the bearings [:@]
BUT! it is still under warranty so i can get it repaired for free! oh and it turns out the backplate i was given was a losi sport rotostart backplate. probably woth like £20 so all is good

got the engine back and the .21 backplate does not fit, i have the part no. but i cannot find a place in the uk that sells the parts
the no's are
-28026
-28022
-21024
but it seems that the shaft that goes into the one way bearing fits and spins until you tighten the bolts......just confused

Is it the backplate itself that doesnt fit, or when you put the pullstart unit on?
If it seems like its tight and hard to turn over once you tighten the plate onto the block, then either you have the wrong starter shaft (too thick) or possibly the starter plate itself sits too far in.

well it turns out that after careful deliberation and about half an hour with a straight edge i found that the turbofan shaft was bent by a tiny fraction, which amplifies to make the one way bearing tipping from side to side, i replied to the guy on ebay and i have sent it off today.

ok final update on the seemingly endless amount of problems with this "good" engine, the one way bearing is the wrong size...so i have tryed to find a replacement and have only found a distributor in the states who will sell it to me for £50.........[:@]
after some internet tomfoolery i mnaged to come upon an sts one way bearing that is the same shape and size, turns out that hobao has sold the rights to those parts so i can order one for the massive sum of £10. 6 weeks of headscratching solved with a tenner....just my luck
