Engine porting
Somebody posted an article and pictures of how to do porting mods to the nitro engine. Would like to thank that person. I know there was some negativity to him encouraging people do do this and screw up their already good runing mill. But I did it similar to the pictures and am very happy with the results. I didnt gain much on the top end, but low and mid range is crazy now, the motor just runs better, idles smoother and smokes more even though I had to retune, but thats ok. I consider myself above average in small engine repair, thats why I went for it. The Mach 28 dynamite has only scalloped crank cuts, but nothing on the sleeve, thats why I noticed so much increase. Its awsome and BTW I'm just a basher not a racer.

RE: Engine porting
where are these pics, i would like to see them. someone doing mods is always going to face ridiculing from the public, it has always been that way. i face the same thing and so do all other modders that are trying or have made a name for themselves.

my camera wont take a good close up so mine didnt come out too good. Now if I knew how to post a video I have that. Here aew some before the install. I didnt touch the crank, I've read that polishing it makes the motor run bad because the fuel doesnt atomize very well or something like that.

RE: Engine porting
How do you smooth out the work after you do the sleeve modding? I heavily modded a k4.6crank and the finish is really rough. I need to know how to smooth it off and then I can polish it

RE: Engine porting
Very nice finish on the crank. I did just the same mods on my k4.6 crank, but the finish is very rough. Still have not figured out how to smooth it

that was me that posted the how-to pics, and your welcome ;) glad it worked out for you.
Here is the link to the thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_52...tm.htm#5227909 and I'll see if I can find pics of the bits you need to do the work... here's the final bit I used to polish it smooth before hitting it with the buffing wheels and compounds http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXYA54&P=ML |

RE: Engine porting
how did the epoxying work out for you and what type did you use? I thought about giving it a try with some standard 5-min 2-part epoxy.

RE: Engine porting
You need to get a rubber attachment, dremel makes one. Personally I use an old rubber dental tip from my work. But just a rubber polishing tip is all you need. Or the dremel felt tip with polishing compound works too. BTW guys I love the mod pics, this is cool, way cool.
