RE: Extra 300 is born !
Sorry for the single pictures per post, I forgot to change the resolution on the camera and they were taken at 8 mega pixels.
All that's left to do is some graphics which i should have this week.

RE: Extra 300 is born !
Let me second what Albert has said. I was very impressed with the way it flew. Very light on the wing, as well as the controls. The one roll loops were a thing of beauty.
I have no doubt that when I get mine done and dialed in the way I like it i will be able to do rollers and snaps better and more consistent that with my 330.
Thank you Albert for letting me fly her a bit...
Rob

Thanks Walt , I think you know a thing or two about building yourself. LOL
You did an awesome job with waynes 300 and I can't wait to see it in person. This was the coolest project I ever had a chance to be a part of.

Great Job Albert, the plane looks really good. Glad the maiden went well and it really is a nice looking plane and I am jealous that you had a place to go with no snow, we just got 12" more yesterday and it is snowing right now. The field is under about 4 feet of snow and will be a while before we can use the field . I have my plane aready to go I just need to paint it. Ifyou get a chance just drop me an email with your control throws if you would. Once again plane looks great and have fun with it. Thanks Tony

Thanks Tony,
You're going to really like this airplane.
ailerons high 32 deg.
low 24deg.
Elevator high 41 deg.
low 12 deg.
Rudder high 45 deg
low 20 deg.
As for the CG it's a little nose heavy so I'll be moving the ignition batt. back some as well as getting lighter wheels.

Albert,
Of course I've been following your build with some interest as I made the "pre kit" concept plane. It sounds as if you've achieved something great and I'm very glad that Dennis ended up kitting this plane. Personally I think it has some advantages over the other Extra models and hopefully will end up being quite popular. I know I've enjoyed flying mine a lot and will continue to do so for some time. I think you'll find that the plane will need less mixing than just about any other. My congratulations to you on a job well done.

I just got back from flying and I whish you guys could see the smile on my face. I couldn't have picked a better, day it was in the 50's light wind and over all just a fantastic day to go flying. Now to the inportant stuff. I'll start by saying that I copied the 260 radio program including mixes to get a good baseline as to how it compares to the 260. Over all the airplane behaves very much like the 260 except on it's side, the large canopy gives the 300 a larger amount of frontal side area which together with the slightly larger rudder makes for awesome rollers and point rolls. One of the things I noticed was the fact that I could do a one roll roller on low rate rudder which I can't do with my 260 with the same amount of rudder. The 300 felt very light on the wing and IMO has the nicest lines af all the cardens I've had but then again the 300 is my favorite so perhaps I'm bias. I'd like to thank Bob and Rob Teseo for letting me fly at their field, I had a blast ! We took a lot of pictures but unfortonately my video camera decided that it wasn't going to read the discs but I will get some video next time out.

RE: Extra 300 is born !
Thanks Mike,
The 300 has always been my favorite of the extra line of aerobatic aircraft. The airplane flies extremely well and I know it will be a popular model for a long time. Thanks for getting the "ball rolling" and building the first one. BTW I love the color scheme on yours !

RE: Extra 300 is born !
Got four more flights in today but sorry no video as my dad who had the video camera decided at the last minute is was too windy and was a no show. From what I can tell so far I need 1% throttle to down elev. for down lines which is 1% less than on my 260 and I need 1% less rudder to aileron than on my 260, of course this might change as I'm still playing with the CG.
Brian from aerographix did an oustanding job on the graphics. Here's some pics.

RE: Extra 300 is born !
Just came back from the seagate center "toledo". I spent half a day setting up the airplane in the booth etc. and got a chance to weigh it on a digital scale and I'm very happy to say it is 36.69 pounds. Originally it was 37 lbs 3oz but I replaced the wheels with some kavans.

hey albert,
can you post some pics of the inside of the fuse? i'm curious how your radio install came out.
especially the throttle / choke servo mounts and linkage setups.
thanks
