Default cen mt2 prob.s

i'm having problemswith my mt2 ..although i think im to blame first of all i keep stripping second gear (2) i dont think im meshing 2ND right could u please help me as im from ireland there are very few model shops that are any good ,so basically if no one to ask, . the second thing is with my high speed needle 2 and half turns open from closed my trucks seems to overheat and drop revs, leave go throttle it picks up again, only happened 2 times and i srewed out to 3 turns to prevent damage .i do know my low speed screw is'nt right because from stopped open fully it boggs for a second before going could this have anything to do with my over heating at 2 and ahalf turns open on high speed needle prob. now iknow there alot here but your help would be welcomed. P.S. upgraded cooling heads for NT16 engine would they a noticable difference on cooling allowing me to run leaner ,what % fuel would you recomend to use i use 16% and dont think im getting 45 MPH out of it would 25% make much difference.
last but least great truck have had loads of fun-beating my friends kyosho stadium st truck around the place but lately hes been having last laugh so help please

Is it still overheating three turns out and did you cut cooling holes in the windshield back window and side window? You want to keep the temp around 270 or less and the lowspeed needle needs to be leaned out a little bit (1/8th turn at a time). My high speed screw is about 3 and 1/4 turns out.
On the gear mesh take two 1/4' wide by 3" long pieces of notebook paper fold them in half place between the gears and the clutch bell gears and press firmly together and tighten the screws. It sounds like the clutch bell isn't spuare with the gears.
I use 20% O'Donnel RTR fuel which is one of the fuels CEN recomends.

Hope this helps.

thanks for your help here is how my truck setup...first im running 16% fuel thats why i run two and a half turns from closed on high speed needle other wise it is capable of doing about 22 mph "wont even hit second thats how dead it runs, so 20% will allow me to run richer with more power( will that increase fuel consumption seems its richer ) and allow me to run that bit cooler, i have the front plus back window cut out allthough i think my low speed screw is wrong would that cause overheating leave me tell me how the trusk idles might make more sense ....when its at idle and i touch the trottle it bogs for a half second before taking off when i brake and stop the last 1 or 2 hundred rpm seem to slowly drop to idle so does that mean my low end screw is to lean or rich cause im really confused at the moment. i think your dead right about 2 nd sounds like gears { especially 2 nd} is nt square ,one last thing woukd the higher fuel pull better top speed and acceleration out off my truck cause i really dont tkink my truck is 45 mph more like 35 when it was running good oh truch is only 5 weeks old how ever no local support or shop to help me so im relying on advice over the net to help me out.....thanks very much for taking the time help me out much appreciated...............madmark[&:]

The running temp. between 16% and 20% should be negligable but I could be wrong. You don't want to adjust the HSN according to what fuel you are running you want to adjust by what temp the motor is running at. The factory setting on the high speed needle is 3 1/2 turns out start there. Adust the HSN in 1/8 at a time giving it a few minutes of running to get used to the new settings and check the temp. continue doing this until a temp of no more than 270 degrees is reached. Digital thermometer's are relatively inexpensive if your hobby store doesn't have one check you local electronics store.
The low speed needle sounds like it is to rich and needs to be leaned out at least a 1/4 turn. If is to rich it will take a while for the excess fuel to burn and return to normal idle and it will bog then accelerate. There should be no bogging when accelerating. If it speeds up then bogs it is to lean.
When you adjust the idle make sure your radio trim is at zero. You do not want to use the trim to adjust the idle speed.
Personally I can't tell the difference between 35 and 45 mph on a 10th scale truck and where I run it, it never really reaches top speed.
Alot of the tuning procedures are listed in the CEN nitro manual if you do not have one it can be downloaded from www.cenracing.com.

Hope this helps, rolland

Please don't use all caps.

I don't use second gear. I am usually on the brakes before second hits so I took it out.
The difference in weight would more than likely make the ST truck faster than the MT as well as overall gearing, meaning the spur, clutch bell, and tire diameter.

2 1/2 turns out on top does seem too lean. I have mine at 3 turns out and my bottom end slightly in from flush. I like to use 20% with almost all my cars and trucks. 16 Does seem to be little low.

The only way I know of for sure is to slow down before you corner. Almost all RC trucks will traction roll on pavement if cornered to hard.

Glad I could help. Remember to check the mesh regularily and keep and eye on the temps and everything should be ok.
