Is there any metal spur gears for the Fun Factor Monster truck???? The stock ones arent very durable.

'If you mesh the gears correctly You shouldn't have any problems with them. I keep a spare set handy just in case but because of the proper gearing they collect dust... The last time I needed to replace them was jumpimg my mt2 at a skate board park on Marthas Vinyard this summer. I was jumping about 8-10 feet and the motor worked its way loose, Other than that, never had any problems. Love the truck and very few problems

yea the right mesh is sooo important with these plastic gears...check the mesh at 90 degree intervals when u set it too - some of the gears arent quite round, if u see what i mean. mesh may be ok on one side of the spur, but just spin it round and check the other "sides".

dont forget the threadlock on engine mounts etc!!

cenracer1 - do u have the cen .16 in urs? if u put a bigger/pokier engine in then they are a bit more prone to stripping, not sure if its the extra power or more chassis flex, prob a combination of the 2, but unless my gears are spot on meshed and "round" then kicking into 2nd can strip the spur a bit too easily on occasion. just a thought to bare in mind if u go the .18/big block route. had no probs with the single speed setup and my .18 tho.

my girlfriend owns a house in oak bluffs right on the ocean... Life is rough... We go there 2 3 times a year. There is a skateboard park near there where I can bash the trucks... It's brutal on the trucks....Yes they break... but soooo much fun.....
I've tried to run in the sand at the beach, but it causes too many problems

sorry poor judgement... I missed the end of your post... I still have the original nt-16 in my truck... I wanted to upgrade to the OS or Epic engine but this little thing won't break... have around 3 gallons thru it and still strong.... I will probably get the new cen 3.0 .18 size engine soon just because of the durability of the last one ...... let me know what you think....

i havent seen or heard anything about sens new 18. i only had a few minor probs with my cen with the carb - its still a good runner and mines had a good 3-4 maybe 5 gallons and it still runs ok. i would have thought cens 18 would be fine in the mt, yea a different 18 might give more power, but that can lead to other probs.

might be worth doing the diff cup mod if u put the 18 in, if u didnt mod them already.

i did hear that the cen 18 is a true ABC construction so wear and reliability should be something like the 16....well it should.

the os18 cv-r is tempting at $90 in towerhobbies....it may well eat ur standard diffs tho, the cen will be less trouble and more driveable i would expect.
