RE: T-maxx axle carriers and half shafts on a fun factor
Hi poorjudgement
Yeah been looking but not much yet will have to make some up from 1mm alu plate
when i go back to work on monday.
Got st2/mt2 thicker shafts up front and rear shocks allround with preload clips on rear
only thing that broke was spur gear got a stone crunched up in there it sometimes
flips over backwards under power but other than that its pretty tuff and has withstud
many 5/6 feet high landings in the local quarry.
The engines from ebay its an sts .28 and apart from finger blistering compression
its good starting now run in and will climb just about anything from a standstill.
It's also fitted with tt ssk wheels which fit straight on with no mods and supply good grip
but ballon a lot as the revs get up i'm also looking to make a full rollcage for it in the near future.
Thanks AntWar

Can take some the engines mounted on a savage engine mount and uses cen two speed clutch bell and bearings with a savage flywheel and three shoe clutch and savage/cut cen manifold and standard cen pipe it seems to work ok.

And a few more.
The claimed power figure for the engine is 3.6hp @28200 rpm so yes it does get a fair move on.

what? no diff cup problems? driveshafts are ok? hmmm maybe u arent driving it "properly"
nah seriously - no diff probs at all mate? with that motor in, i reckon u could clear the humber and drop it into my back yard! my little os 18 has given me enough transmission troubles tho - so i wouldnt try it!
where do u take ur truck? u mentioned a quarry - do u bash down there with anyone else? i only have touring cars to run over in cleethorpes... fun but they dont like it much. i would love to see that thing run!

Have bent shock tower but just bent it back and one spur gear and one lh front dogbone but replaced with thicker late model ones
also have the shell as low as poss to reduce damage and dont over tighten body mounts.
The quarry gives it a bloody good hammering everything between sand/grit to stones about a foot in diameter lots of steep inclines and jumps too will post a vid next time we get out.

i look forward to seeing the vid!
what gear ratios are u using? looks like aa 14/18 pinion set... and is that the genesis 43t steel spur in there too?
just a thought - a tuned pipe more suited to that sized engine will give u a lot more power.... as if u needed more....lol

Yep 14/18 clutchbell and a new plastic spur gear may go metal next time is the gen
one a straight swap.
Yes pipe may hold it back a bit going to make a one off pipe with silencer
have done much two stroke tuning on motorcycles quite a few years ago
still have all the books kickin about somewhere.
So more to come i think got to keep the bottom end soft so its easy to control.

a little update on the shafts...
i just had my truck in bits, and took the opportunity to check out how the shafts were doing. i was concerned most about how much the pin retaining the cen part cvd had split the tmaxx shaft - here are the pics. the shaft is fine! the plastic cv isnt so impressed, but then i have been running in sand, and these are the rear shafts i looked at. these were not new when i bought them btw...
oh - and how did all that sand get in there? ah yes, that will be the os 18s addiction to wheelies!
trying it tonight with 47/44 plastic spurs and 15/18 pinions.

Adapters should be easy enough to make. Buy some T-Maxx adapters some good epoxy, something like JB Weld and break out your favorite rotary tool and bits, and make them fit. I would have done this if I did not have the Renegade adapters. Renegade by the way sold and was in the process of moving to another state so they might be back in some form or another.
I have seen metal T-Maxx cvd's so that might be an option if the plastic ones are giving you fits.

trouble is that the tmaxx wheels put a lot more strain on the cen shafts. they are especially prone to breaking where the hex pin goes thru the shaft. i havent had any unreasonable breakages from these yet.
