overall the cen is a good bit quicker, but a bit more fragile than the other big names. if u intend to give the mt hell, just bashing about etc, then the cen wont last too long, if u want to go fast and smooth (no house jumping) then the mt is ok with a couple of mods that are easily found on the forum here.

hope that helps

Amen to that rev. PJ!
My CEN proudly sports a .28 5 port and the thing absolutely howls along. It changes gear in a few meters and almost throws the rubber off the tyres.
The MT2 is fast and nimble, just a little delicate when it comes to diff cups and .. well diff cups.

An added bonus is you can modify the suspension enough to make it handle in a similar fashion to a buggy.

I have owned a t-maxx and a savage in the past.... The savage was a great basher, but not real fast... not good racer... The t-maxx was a decent racer and jumper, but not real durable... broke alot of parts that just shouldn't have... bulk heads and chassis parts... also, the spur gear and slipper clutch had their moments... You could make the maxx bullet proof but at a major expense.... the mt2 was a good basher, not great and a great racer... truck is super fast stock, can't imagine what censpares is like... parts are easy to replace and easy to modify.... There is a reason I have gone thru alot of other trucks and always kept my MT2......

I agree, if I had to get rid of one of my trucks it would have to be the Savage that went. I think the Sav is a fabulous piece of engineering but the CEN just has more 'character'. The Fun Factor is extremely easy to work on and as I am sure most will agree, it is an excellent project vehicle. Love my Cen to pieces (literally!).

Thanks everyone for all that.
Strange that there are so few reviews and talk about cen stuff compared to the rest...
Just out of interest can you just put a .21 engine directly in with no alterations and do you find the gears get mashed up fast?

You can put a .21 big block in your car but you will need to do some alterations. New Era Models sell a conversion kit for this purpose. Censpares is the man to speak to though, he is running a .28 in his Fun Factor!!

You can put a .21 in with no issues.
All you need is the following;
Engine mounts from the CT4-S
Retaining screw and nut for the clutch assembly (.21 engine has a smooth shaft unlike the NT.16)
U bend exhaust header to rotate the pipe back towards the front. Unless of course you want it sticking out the back and ready to be ripped off on each 'flipping', which is what will be happening quite often with a .21+
You will need to adjust the throttle setup so that it will worth with a slider carb.
You will also need to relocate the battery/receiver box. I simply lay mine on it's side so that the servo arm would not clash with it now that the throttle geometry was different due to the slider carby. It ends up looking very 'factory' and very neat.

It's a pretty easy conversion, I dont know if I would even call it a conversion, more like a 'swap out'.
If you need part numbers etc, give me a yell.

Rgds

I love my MT2, it smokes a Rustler that a guy has on campus, it is tough as nails, and it is easy and cheap to work on.

I would recommend one to everyone.
