mine ran with the hi speed 3.5 turns out from fully screwed in, the lo speed screw flush with its housing, and the carb was open by the best part of 2mm at idle.

I'm having a problem, I just got done cleaning my engine and sealing air leaks, I mean a serious cleaning basicly I striped it to the block cleaned it and put it back to gether. Well after I got done I went to go tune it and I can't get it to even start. and when it does it wont idle i have to give it full throttle to keep it running. When it does run it sounds like its pluged somewere but i know its not. i've checked everything none of the carb. adjustment screws make a difference. anyways can someone please help me out with this before i go postal on this thing.

just a shot... check your tuned pipe... I cleaned mine once with a paper towel and forgot to remove it.. same thing.. had to floor it to keep it going, ran like junk, removed paper, it was like having a new truck... took me a week to figure it out...
