Default To Much Power for Two Wheels?

Hi, okay the front transmission on my Cen Rally FF is buggered, it does not turn over smooth, so instead of fixing it (hobby shop closed for the weekend) I plan to simply disconnect the axles from the front wheels and take the main shaft out making it rear wheel drive, but will the back end be able to cope with all the engines power? Any help would be great.

The first day I got mine I broke a diff cup so for the next 3 weeks or so I just ran mine in the way you are suggesting, worked fine, its just harder to control...especially when I was lining it up for a jump to get footage for a movie I made.
