I took my Genesis LE to the track for first time. This has been the first time I've raced an RC car for 20 years. My last car was an RC10 (it was a big deal when I switched from the resistor to the electronic speed control).
So I learned a few things. One, I absolutely suck at driving!!!! I can not believe how much more difficult it is running around a small track with 10 other cars buzzing than just running by myself in the backyard. I am sure I can improve but I didn't represent CEN real well last night. Of course I was the only Genesis. I also learned that the stock tires have no place on the track I was at (hard packed clay). I have the snipers on order with the 23 mm wheel hexes so hopefully that helps control the truck a bit.
I am also getting a little discouraged with the amount of parts failures I've had lately. I've had the truck out 4 times since X-mas and every time I've broken something. I know it's mostly due to being a noob and running in the cold but the wife is getting a little agitated every time I drop $20 to $40 for new parts.
Last night I broke GS028. I came off a jump weird and it just popped the wheel right off. So I paid $8 to practice, ran 1/4 tank (about 5 minutes on track), and broke my axle. I corner marshaled for a few minutes then I bugged out.
I did learn one good thing: that those 6" plastic pipes they use to mark the course out mean nothing to the Genesis. I think I ran 1 complete lap otherwise I was all over the place. LOL!!
I had one guy ask me "Holy Cow, who let the full size car in here?!?". Leave it to me to take a bull in a china shop, and then break the bull...

jpk,
I think you are driveing your Genesis like mad as its not that easy to break GS028,the best thing
you do is run your truck in open grounds so you will get use to it

Sounds like a good part for the aftermarket to jump on. Hopefully robinson racing or somebody sees this and makes us something STRONGER.

I hope some one makes it, if not, CEN will not sell many Genesis/Nemsis.
I have been waitning for over a year that someone would make a stronger one. But nothing happens......That's the sad part.

i had one break on me and it was a fairly light crash on pavement, after replacing it i have beat the living hell out of the truck and the gs028 has not failed again on any corner of the truck. The one that did break on me when i looked at it didnt quite look right where it broke ( right at the pin) i guess thats its weakest point but the metal looked like it had air pockets in it or something ( pourous might be the right word im looking for ) and i figured it just to be isolated incident.

Looking at mine the pin hole is somewhat oblong almost as if it was stretched before if broke. I would suspect that if you over tightened the set screw that holds the pin in place that you could easily stretch that hole out, especially if those set screws were installed at the factory with a electric driver. That set screw only needs to tight enough to hold the pin in place.
What I am thinking about doing in chucking it up in a lathe with the ball end inside the head. I want to cut the necked down part of the shaft off flush with the bearing race that would hold the 2 bearings inside the GS010 hub. Then drill and tap the largest threads I can safely fit inside the race. After that find the appropriate shoulder bolt and drill the hole for the 3 * 19 pin that holds the hex in place. Thread the shoulder bolt (with red lock tight) into the stub shaft and voila. I may not be describing it correctly. I'll try to get a few pics up as I am doing it to show what I am talking about.
If I could find a way to secure the hex to the shoulder bolt without drilling a hole for the pin that would be the ultimate in strength. I could TIG weld it on... If I chucked the hex up and cut a small chamfer on the inside diameter I could use that as my point to add some filler. Brazing I guess would even be an option. Hmmmmmm....

i also broke the same part on my nemesis at the the drive pin as well. im not shore wether to get another shaft or wait for a respond from cen because i dont want to waste my money and this happens again.i would be pissed plus its humiliating as hell. when you run rc with people who just cant wait for the opportunity to say your truck sucks.
