If its not one thing its another with my FF...
I have never run it for more than a few tanks before something screws up and needs fixing...
Last night I spent about 2 hours tuning making everything perfect so I could spend all day bashing at the park....I drive out to the park...get the engine running, touch the throttle, strip 1st gear completly...dont even get a single min of play time. I was sure I aligned the pinions perfectly last night!!! I have done it before many times. That was my last spur gear too...
If I'm not rebuilding the diffs, or slapping epoxy on the diff cases...I'm sitting waiting for parts...
This is starting to get retarded. I've spent over a grand on car, mods and accessories...and I dont even get to play with it.
Seems like every friggn time I take it out I should just put 30 bones in a jar for broken parts! The worst is waiting 2 weeks for parts as my LHS seems to not even know the word CEN!
I cant even run the thing long enough to snap an axle with my new 1/8th size wheels.
Anyone feel where I'm at right now? If I keep upgrading will the breakage stop?
Anyway...I'm off to order MORE parts now....

I'v broke the stock servo, a few diff cases and A arms, some spurs, and a few shafts and dogbones, bent the chassis. All my fault though. Except maybe the servo
Maybe yu guys got a bad batch or something but I know that this FF is 5 times the truck my old tmaxx was.

I'm gonna forget about my FF for a week while I wait for parts...then when I get parts I'm going to completly rebuild everything from front to back....clean and oil...
Maybe this will breath new life into my CEN!
I guess this is what happens when you run such a high strung machine...Its just so annoying when something small breaks and you cant fit it right away!
I wonder how many other canadians have to wait 2 weeks for parts. Maybe I should start selling CEN parts on-line here in Canada...!

Bootmachine,
I'd buy form you. lol.
The only dealer I've found in western canada that is willing to ship out parts is eagle hobbies in edmonton. BUT the first time i called about parts he said that CEN's were Junk and i should throw it out and buy a mammoth. lol. AND he only carries a few very basic FF parts: spurs, A arms, etc. No hop ups or wheels or anything like that.
BTW could you post a pic of the FF with that new era bumper on it[sm=confused.gif] I thin I want one but i wanna know what it looks like on the truck.

Mine's the same way. Last week, I did a simple jump from dirt off a 4" curb to asphault and my pinion gear seperated from my clutch bell. ***?!
I can't even brush something wrong without something breaking apparently. I'm guessing it's a learning curve mixed with price-to-play. But who knows!

Wow. talking about CEN availability in Canada here, I have been trying to decide between a nemesis or LST2. Thing is If i got a nemesis it would cost me lots of shipping to canada. So i called the only hobby shop in alberta that carries CEN. Eagle hobbies in Edmonton. Conversation went like this:
Me: Do you carry Cen parts and do you carry the Nemesis?
Him: the what? the genesis you mean?
Me: no the nemesis. the race version of the genesis.
Him: you mean the genesis made by funfactor.
Me: ...[sm=frown.gif]
Him: The best advice I can give you is STAY AWAY from it, the are Pieces of $#17. If you want a good truck get the XTM mammoth. All metal and does over 100km/hr.
Me: uh... sure. do you carry the LST2.
Him: yeah but it is a piece of $#17 too.
Me: Click!
Remember the next closest CEN dealer is 800 miles from me...
So in other words I can't even get to see a nemesis up close before deciding...

its kind of a catch 22 - if cen spent money more promoting their product and educating retailers - basically getting it "Out There" and getting a better name for themselves, then we would be bearing the cost of that, and then moaning about the fact a gen/nemesis costs more than an LST for example. same goes for spares etc. how many people out there bought a funfactor as their first nitro because it was the best value for money?

Are you sure you didn't phone Irvine in the UK by mistake? That sounds just like conversations I have had with them.

I have dealt with Eagle in Alberta and I dont like them much either. Too expensive!
I'm gonna do some thinking about this parts deal and see what its gonna take to start a web site so you can click on the part, pay with a credit card OR PAYPAL and your good to go!
Then I would have all the CEN parts I need...AND all my Canadian brothers can get CEN parts without paying horrible US to CAN shipping!
OR...if your willing to pay...over night shipping. So if you strip your last spurr bashing Fri night..you can have a new spur in for bashing all day on Sunday.
Anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Let me know!

BootMachine,
This is an area I can offer you some help. For web software, use OSCommerce with a MySQL backend. You can run it on Linux for free or buy a Windows server license. I am running it on Windows 2003. My site is down being upgraded at the moment, but I will have it back up by this weekend if you want to see the kind of things you can do with it. Both softwares are FREE! Can't beat the price and they have plugins for PayPal, Credit Cards, etc... It is very configureable, GUI driven for updates and been around for several years. You should do it. Startup would be a bit expensive to warehouse the parts, but start with the most common used parts.
Sorry to get off topic.

Bootmachine,
DO IT!!![sm=thumbup.gif]
Just Buckle down on the idea and have a site up and running for the end of the month lol.
I emailed cen and told them about eagle and asked if there are any other CEN dealers in Alberta. I don't know why there wouldn't be since it's the richest province in Canada. The government even gave every albertan $400 because they have more money than they know what to do with due to the oil here.
Anyway, Here is CEN's reply.
Hi Justin,
That is a very interesting conversation you had with that shop owner! A lot of times, shop owners will use what we call a brand “bias†when giving advice on a purchase. I will tell you from my own personal experience that our NEMESIS truck is the biggest baddest truck on the track and in the bashing parking lot! I don’t expect you to take my word for it, but the 1000’s and 1000’s of CEN Nemesis and Genesis drivers that have made their purchases have nothing but GREAT things to say about the product.
As far as not having enough places in Canada to shop, we are currently working on these problems for our friends from the North can get all our great CEN products! Our sales team is aggressively trying to secure more accounts for the Canada market.

Sounds like I should send CEN an e-mail and see what kind of deal we can make!

You have got to go for it. All they can say is no and that would be really stupid since it sounds like not many places sell CEN products around you. I turned my website back on for a while so you could get an idea what you can do with OSCommerce software and MySQL. It's written fully in PHP and is pretty simple to setup.
http://www.cyberbeecomputers.com/catalog/index.php
This is my catalog. I have not updated anything for a while and my smtp host closed shop so I have no outbound email from my site. But you can get an idea what's possible. Any help I can be, just let me know and good luck with your venture. Never know, maybe this hobby will start paying for itself...
To download OSCommerce, you can go to http://www.oscommerce.com/ or click their banner at the bottom of my site.

I'd start up a site myself but i'm in school till may 2007 so.....[
]
But if you did it bootmachine, I would bet it would go well. Seeing as how there is not ONE dealer in canada that sells CEN and has a site where you can buy stuff.

If I build a site it will be quick and simple. Basically just a place to get CEN parts shipped in Canada! Maybe I can sell enough parts to run my FF for free! Who knows!

Well, the reatail mark up on nonessentials like electronics, hobby stuff, accessories for anything, are usually pretty big. A guy i used to work with used to own 50% of a radishack and he said on toys and cell phone accessories he made the biggest mark ups[sm=pirate.gif]. Not that he carried quality RCs but might be worth just looking into all the same.
Maybe carry some savage or traxxas parts or something as well and make a business of it.

Bring this thread back from the dead.....My FF is the same, things break so easy, I took it out ran 3 tanks and then the starter breaks then the gears strip it feels neverending! For some reason it feels like the build quality is extremely low compared to my Savage 21.
