whats the range i should expect out of my Skyion DSX Tx and RX in the CT5? with a clear line of sight, i can get max of 60 feet and it looses signal, batts are all new.. 11.4 v on tx and 4 duracell 2500 mah batts in car.. with all 8 duracells my JR XS3 gave a voltage of 11.8. so i know they are all well charged... chrystals are seated and reseated and fliped around and reseated again.. no apparent issues with equipment.... i can get well over 400 ft with the JR and not a hickup...im only on tank 10 or 11 and the 1st 6 i never went farther than say 30 or 40 feet. so never ranged check as my road is tar and chip and very rough for this type of car,,,. today i got to a LARGE SMOOTH FLAT NEW BLACKTOP parking lot with no one but me 500ft x 100ft with 3 drive thru areas between the parking lots. 1st drive thru is about 150 ft from each end of the lot.. so very nice long smooth stait aways and plenty of area to maintain good speeds throughout the turn? any ideas. bad tx/rx/chrystals.... or is that the norm? i hope not cuz at 70mph, 60 ft is on you QUICK. also noticed if the car got out of LOS (line of site) i also lost signal then, even with the car 15 feet away, tx cant see car/ tx cant controll car. what your suggestions.... personally i ll prolly get another JR RS310 for the JR XS3 Pro, but the stock tx is pretty nice, even though the trim/button layouts could have used a bit better placement.

I had the same issues with the junk so I already swapped it out for the DX3.

The Skyion is an AM radio. You could have been getting interferance from something. It could also be the batteries that you are using for your RX. If those are rechargable you are not getting the same voltage as you would with regular AA's. If you are running a failsafe the lower voltage could also be causing it to act up.

If you still have the JR I recomend getting another RX and use the JR radio. It will be a whole lot better than the Skyion radio.

Rolland, unfortunatly, none of that is the problem ( as i have already illimnated those possiblities ) with exception of possible interferance due to being an AM radio....., but to date it did this from out of box, i just never looked into it until today cuz today was the 1st day i really got to a spot i could open it up due to available driving area and driving surface conditions............
i ve have drove this car in 4 different places, and they are all in differnt areas with about 10miles distance between them.. so i dont think interferance is an issue unless my bodys electrical system is the interferance, and im not making light of it, i can not wear a watch with any battery, it must be a wind up.. i put a new watch on thats battery operated, its dead in 24 hrs.. new battery, dead in 24 hrs. any battery operated watch i wear against my skin discharges in a day, my mother also has this problem....

the four places i ve drove the car is: my place here where the road is tar and chip, out in the country, so didnt even attempt speeds or distance traveling, this was during breakin so... a local park, this is where i first noticed the issue, all duracell coppertops, all new that day, was there 30 minutes and that day never got over 40 feet without loosing the signal......... all batteries proceded to work right up until they were to weak when i put them in the other mts i have.... a local church parking lot, and again noticed issues.. this time with the 8 duracell rechargables in the tx with a v reading of 11.4 when turned on and a 5 cell ofna hump pack fully charged, and then today with all new energizers in the Tx and 4 fully charged duracell rechargeables in the car, the rechargable have NEVER been an issue on any of the other 5 txs i have or any of the mts/ helis/ or planes ive used them in...... any OTHER possibilities....?

It sounds like the antenna in the RX is broken or not securely attached to the RX. I know this sounds like a generic answer but, if this is a new setup you might want to return it to CEN for repairs.

I suggest using the JR radio and putting the CEN radio on the shelf until they offer the radio swap program again. Providing that they are using the Airtronics radio's for the swap. The Skyion from what I have been hearing isn't much better than the Impacts as far as reliability and dependabiliy and on a 70+mph car you really need dependability.

yea i ve checked that too with exception of opening the RX box, being under warrenty i ll hollar at CEN Tuesday am and see whats up. i swapped out chrystals so thats not the issue either. i already planned on putting a RS 310 on it and useing the JR.. but its nice to have the stocker for back up if ever needed.

no. CEN, quickly i might add, sent me a new Radio and Reciever. at the time i had been useing my JR XS3 Pro, so it wasnt pressing that i have/use the stock cen system. to date, i have yet to use the stock system, only becuz i had the jr, but i did install the stock system last week, and will be useing it this weekend to play with it a bit. Since i got my 1/5th gasser, i havent spent much time with any nitro tbh.
