Hey guys/gals
Just dropping a line here, havent been on much. Wedding planning has taken all my time. Now with that almost done I need to get back to my hobbies. So with that i need to order some spur gears for my MT2. I want to go alum, but $$ so plastic it is. I know some of you have used the Gen gears, how hard is that to drill? Can it be down with out a press? If i go with the alum gears i need to find a pinion also right? Suggestions
Hope all is well with everyone

You can use the steel option gears for the Magnum and the Talon. No mods are needed with these, they bolt right on. But you will need a clutch bell with steel gears.

Clutch bells that will work. I use these with no problems,

You will need to use this bearing or stack a couple of clutch bell bearings together,

Take your time with these and shim them correctly and they should be no problem.

Does it matter which one of those clutch bells?
I have the gears on order, I broke down and paid the money for steel [:@]
I guess ill order that bearing, and the clutch bell before i put my new gears in.

The gearing is going to depend on what engine you are using and the tire size.
The stock gearing for the MT2 with the NT .16 and stock tires is 11/14.
With the OS .18 I personally like the 13/16 bell with the stock tires and buggy tires.
It pretty much is going to be personal preference. I would recomend buying both and trying out the different gearing. What I like and the conditions that I run in are probably totally different from what you run in.

With the clutch bells you will need the bearing I linked to or you will need to stack a couple of (3?) clutch bell bearings together.
Ofna makes a clutch shim kit that I have found to be very usefull that you might want to pick up.

You migh need to adjust the shift point on the transmission to get it to shift. Make sure you turn the right screw. A good diagram for the 2 speed is on the Toyhaus website.
For the dogbones try tightening up the pillow balls a little bit to take up some of the slack in the dog bone.
