Default FF clutch bells?

I have a 2wd Fun Factor that is getting a 2 speed transmission. I have everything but the clutch bell. Here's two question: 1. Will the truck have good acceleration and top speed if I get the 14-17 clutch bell (#G84308-04)? 2. I have seen part (#G84309-01) which says "Clutch Bell (M10 + M12)". How big are each gears on that bell, and will it work on my truck? If it can fit, which clutch bell is better for acceleration/top speed. Or do I have to stick to the 11-14 bell?

P.S.: I can get the M10 + M12 bell for $7.99 verses $8.99 for the 14-17 bell.

An immediate responce would be appreciated.

you will have much better acceleration with the 11/14 bell... the 14/17 is too tall for the stock motor to handle...Others on this forum are running the 14/17, but they are running BB .28's in theirs... I have the os18, and I run the 11/14 with great results... 45 to 50 mph is about all this truck can handle without being too difficult to drive... mostly due to the short wheelbase and narrow track...

The M10, M20 bell is just a threaded bell with no gears I believe.

You are best of sticking with the 11/14 pinions as cenracer says.

If you want more acceleration OR top speed - go for a bigger motor like the OS18 - its about as powerful a motor as youd sensibly want in there.

Thanks guys. I was wondering about the speed/acceleration issue because right now I have a 15 tooth clutch bell and 47 tooth spur on the truck and seems like I'm not even getting over 30 mph and the 14/44 second gear looks like it won't go much faster than my current setup. Will I get the same results speed wise as cenracer, with the stock engine, or will my speed results be slightly lower than his?

with the nt16 tuned correctly and the 11/14 2 speed you should see 40-45 mph.... I hit a little more with the os18 running a bit lean, saw upper 45-47mph..with the stock mt2 tires.. the acceleration was much better... I am having issues with the maxx tire/wheel combo at the moment... with bent t-maxx axles and destroyed diffs, I have been rebuilding lately... when I first did the mods, I would say the speeds were around mid 40's, but it was a nightmare to drive fast... the track was much more fun... I will be replacing the proline bow ties for some revo rubber, more suitable for the street and lighter and see what happens.. I have one more axle to finish and will test again on sunday...

Thanks for your help cenracer. I have now ordered the 11/14 clutch bell and should be here in a week. Now I might be able to have a fair race with my neighbor (has old style T-Maxx).

with the os 18 and everthing else stock...you will eat the old style and the 2.5r maxx in straight line easily... with the nt16 you should take out the old maxx... the 3.3 is another story... much faster.. the os 18 and the 3.3 are about the same...
