Why do you want to change that engine ocava? I've had a 'Genny with the original .46 for around 9 months now and it's a real workhorse, four or five gallons through her and no problems.
Sorry I can't recommend a changeout but just wondering.

JUST GIVE you a idea of how strong the nova is when i use to run the lrp spec 2 i geared down to 17/21 on clutch bell for more torque since .28 engines rev higher than the stock engine. when i put in the nova i had to gear back up to stock gearing 21/25 because it was just plain nasty on the bottom

I know I'm not even close to understanding everything in this hobby so would someone explain to me why you would want to change the engine out from stock?
I think the .46 is an awesome engine, it has enough power to move a battleship and the speed comes from the tranny setup so I think the engine is not a consideration for the speed.
So for myself and others that would read this thread a little elucidation would be appreciated.
Thank you!!![8D]

speed only comes from the tranny VIA RPM<<< of the engine if the engine has little horsepower it will not be able to spool the rpm needed to move the vehicle as well he wants a higher revving higher hp bigblock in his truck for more low end grunt and a greater top speed the .46 is a great engine no doubt BUT there are much more powerfull engines out there that will ram that truck through a brick wall if you so desire lol
thats the reason to answer your question

Thanks Turbot,
I see it's a relationship between torque and RPM's so you sacrifice one for the other.
The NX76 is rated for 5hp at 23K rpm so you lose top end. The other engines mentioned have less hp output throughout but higher rpm's at top end.
About 2-3 hp at 32k rpm I think.
So you get higher rpms to get you going quicker to make up for lack of torque and higher rpm's in the end to get faster speed.
Do I have any idea of what I'm talking about?
Aaahhhhhhh!!![:@]

i reduced the weight of my truck once i removed the stock engine and pipe wich were very heavy. there real wasnt any need for 8 shocks since the truck was much lighter know and 4 shocks could more than handle the job making the truck more nimble.

the lrp doesnt have more power than the stock engine, but is faster on the topend. i geared it down to get more lowend power and it does have some serious power. just not as much as stock

i would just keep the .46 and play with gear mesh
today i saw the stock .4 and it hauls some butt, but he changed his gear ration for more top end, as much as he could squeeze out of a 23,000 rpm motor
its a good motor, but is HUGE

yeah gear it up to nemi specs! vroom I run 17/21 but I run a lot of tracks that don't have much of a run at the jumps!
if that gearing seems to punch just fatten that bootie-end screw
notcho
