Hi All! I am replacing my NX-26 in my Matrix buggy for a fresh one ( i know... glutten for punishment) Anyways, I got the engine out, the clutch bell off and I cna not FOR THE LIFE OF me figure out how to remove the clutch shoes and springs. Is it just that I should pull harder? I am using small pliers, pulling and pulling and starting to chew up the shoes a little. I have about 1.5 gallons on the stock matrix clutch. HSould I be replacing the clutch or should it be good to go? ANY HELP HERE WOULD BE AWESOME!!! thnx

The black nut that you see inside the shoes has a slit all the way around it. The back side of the spring sits in the slit. You have to pop that spring out of the slit to release the shoe so it call be pulled off. I found the best technique was to lift one shoe up then dive in with a SMALL flat head screw driver and pry the next spring up and over. This task definitely challenges your hand control, but once you get the first on the other two are easy, plus you will have a better understanding of how to put the new shoes on.
IMPORTANT!!!!! - MAKE SURE YOU NOTE WHICH DIRECTION THE SHOES ARE FACING, IF YOU INSTALL THEM BACKWARDS ON THE NEW MOTOR YOU WILL HAVE NO GO!
Good Luck,
Rob
